Job Description

A Technician is needed for a full-time position in Brampton with a reputable Managed IT provider. This is a hybrid position that requires occasional travel to customer sites. The successful candidate should possess excellent IT Support skills and have good customer-facing experience. The ideal candidate should have experience in desktop support, server deployment, upgrades, and o365 migrations, and good documentation. Responsibilities:


As a Technician, you will be responsible for providing exceptional desktop-level technical support. Your expertise in installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, and configuring systems and applications will be critical in ensuring our clients' IT infrastructure is running smoothly. You will also be responsible for installing server hardware and network operating systems like Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2016 and 2019. In addition, you will manage backups using Datto, spinning up VMs in Datto in case of Disaster Recovery, and providing support to escalations. Your strong understanding of user account setup, email protection, and migration-pre will be essential. You will also set up advanced Print Servers, including AD integration, Scan to a folder, and Scan to email tasks, and create group policies and scripts to install applications. Your proficiency with documentation and networking tools like ConnectWise Manage will also be critical to your success in this role.


Requirements:


• Possess and demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Highly self-motivated and directed with a passion for technology and I.T.

• Post-secondary education in Computer Science / Information Technology.

• Obtained industry certifications such as Cisco, Microsoft, and CompTIA.

• Experience with Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, Gmail, and other emailing apps.

• Demonstrable experience with installing, configuring, administering, and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Server 2003 / 2008 / 2012 / 2012 R2 including Active Directory.

• Demonstrable experience with networking concepts including TCP/IP, OSI model, routing, switching, VLANs, subnetting, super subnetting, and other networking concepts.

• Demonstrable experience with networking hardware including Cisco, SonicWALL, routers, Next Generation (NG) firewalls, switches, and VPN appliances.

• Experience with an assortment of backup software including Acronis, Datto, WSB, etc.

• Experience with building, mounting, breaking, hot spare, RAID 0/1/5/6/10.

• Experience with VoIP including FreePBX, Asterisk, Cisco UC, etc.

• Experience with virtualization platforms including VMware and Hyper-V.

• Experience with cloud service platforms including Private Cloud, Azure, and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

• Experience with installing, configuring, administering, and troubleshooting a wide range of desktop hardware and software (Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10) as well as Apple OS X.

• Experience with using Microsoft Office Suite including 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2016.

• Experience with troubleshooting printers, scanners, and various other peripherals.

• Experience troubleshooting supporting devices iPhone, and Blackberry.
