MUFG Investor Services are expanding their global footprint and this role will have the responsibility and accountability for the Vancouver location and for implementing and managing the Operational Strategy for the business.
The Executive director, Client Operations is responsible for ensuring the Client Operations teams adhere to the strategic vision of the company. Ensure that their department operates efficiently and effectively in accordance with company values. Providing excellent client service. Adhering to and designing the company’s policies and controls to minimize risk and ensure regulatory compliance. Operate within assigned budget by controlling costs and maximizing client profitability. To collaborate with other senior management to formulate strategy.
Responsible for driving the culture of the organization and ensuring employee engagement and promoting inclusivity across the Client Operation department. Fostering a spirit of innovation, passion for clients and drive for results. Provide clear leadership to the department and act as role model for employees.
Deliverables
  • Accountable to minimize operational risk incidents and ensure adherence with a strong risk controls framework within the Department.
  • Deliver costs in line with budget
  • Oversight of billing to ensure billing is invoiced and collected in a timely manner in accordance with our fee agreements.
  • Monitor and drive staff utilization, monitoring targets set for staff levels and maximizing use of the workforce.
  • Accountable for team’s workforce planning, ensuring the right people in the right roles in the right location.
Strategic Goals
  • Help support staff engagement through promotion of communication, training and other company initiatives.
  • Keeping up-to-date with industry trends and having a full understanding of the business and product offering to take advantage of any cross selling opportunities.
  • Drive and lead projects as required. Projects involving but not limited to efficiency, process improvements, technology improvements and change, staff development, new service offerings and dealing with regulatory changes.
  • Assist business development with growing the business across product lines. Ensuring our clients are aware of the full suite of services we can provide to meet their needs. Identify the needs of our clients and provide solutions for them.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients to ensure they are happy with service levels.
Budgeting and Reporting
  • Work in conjunction with the LoB Head to agree budget, specifically around departmental direct, indirect and projects costs.
  • Liaise with Finance and Global Head of CO to ensure accurate forecasting and budgeting is maintained throughout the year.
  • Monitor and drive client profitability. Drive location strategy and efficiency initiatives to ensure Department hits budgetary targets
Collaboration
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to local regulatory requirements, outsourcing and filings required by both clients and the local entity.
  • Build and leverage global and local partnerships across departments to ensure a consistently strong focus on quality, service and enhancing client experience.
  • Work with HR team to ensure that the group hires and retains the best possible staffing talent. Participating in and encouraging staff to engage with and follow Diversity and Inclusion pillars.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrable experience in Fund Administration or related industry, including experience in a leadership capacity
  • Experience of dealing with daily funds and or high volume of deliverables an advantage
  • A working knowledge of Japanese investors or retail funds is an advantage
  • A relevant professional qualification in the areas of accountancy or finance or related fields is preferred
  • Proven experience as Deputy Head or Director within Client Operations or similar leadership role
  • Familiarity with all functions expected of the role including HR, Regulatory and Industry knowledge
  • Sound technical knowledge of the financial services and asset management industry.
  • Bachelor’s Degree level with a concentration in finance, accounting or related fields
