The Director leads the planning, development, and control of the complete spectrum of Real Estate Project Delivery standards, processes, and services for Facility Change Projects within the Real Estate portfolio in accordance with client requirements while respecting corporate business plans and objectives, policies, procedures and standards.
Provides corporate expertise, leadership, and guidance to senior stakeholders on Real Estate project management issues. Ensures the integration and application of Project Management practices for scope, schedule, cost, and quality of completed facility projects.
Job Responsibilities
Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Director, Real Estate Project Delivery:
  • Oversees the financial tracking and monitoring processes to verify commitments (purchase orders and authorization for expenditure from contingency allowance) and expenditures (invoices) against approved budget as well as a reconciliation of commitments and payments in SAP for all projects delivered by Project Management Companies.
  • Leads the approval process for all expenditures for the Facility Change Program and validates and approves expenditures on all Real Estate Projects annually. Oversees the contract assignment, contract management, performance evaluation and development of an auditing strategy for third party service providers (Real Estate Service Provider or Project Management Companies) that supply Real Estate’s project delivery services.
  • Establishes and maintains industry and professional association relationships to keep abreast of leading practices and trends and increase our corporate profile.
  • Ensures the provision of the Historical Cost Database used to capture and manage significant cost data elements, the Document Management Database for all Facility Change Project documentation for individual projects, as well as Corporate Design Standards and Design Directives required for the design of all corporate facilities.
  • Ensures the tracking and reporting of project deliverables, schedule progress, risk identification and mitigation, scope management, project completion and closeout for all projects delivered by the service providers.
  • Develops, implements and maintains the processes and tools covering both corporate and regional aspects of Real Estate Project delivery including contracting, design review and approval, management control, communications and change management, administration and reporting.
  • Acts as corporate owner for prototypical facility design. Directs the constructability reviews, institutes design revisions and negotiates acceptable values for revised scope to eliminate cost over-runs.
  • Acts as subject matter expert, developer and custodian of corporate knowledge and knowledge management systems pertaining to the design, construction and renovation of Corporate Real Estate assets.
  • Directs and leads all project delivery activity required by CPC’s Facility Change Programs to ensure effective schedule development and maintenance, budget management and conformance to corporate standards and Municipal/Provincial/Federal Codes.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, development and coaching to the Real Estate Projects team and that all are aligned with the CRE direction and with CRE Projects priorities. Ensures that the team is equipped deliver their projects.
Qualifications
Education
  • Completed post-secondary, preferably in a related field
Experience
  • (If managing a team) 3 or more years’ experience managing people
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant functional experience
  • One or more years of experience in a unionized environment is considered an asset

  • Sound organizational, analytical, judgement and decision-making skills with proven abilities in problem solving
  • Budget and planning experience
  • Proficient computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • (If managing a team) Excellent team building and leadership skills and experience
  • Designation and or certifications programs may be required for certain positions (i.e. Engineering)
