What you’ll be doing


The incumbent will lead a team responsible for leveraging digital sales , marketing performance and clients behavioural data to deliver timely, accurate, and actionable reports, insights and analytics around marketing performance. They will be responsible for maintaining and nurturing our partner or LOB relationships by acting as a trusted advisor bringing to the table timely, actionable insights grounded in strong business context. They will also be responsible for leading the team through key transformation as the team works through integration of multiple complex stacks and adopts new more efficient tools and ways of working.


The Marketing analytics team works in partnership with our Lines of business, Business partner management team, market research and Go to market team to draw up marketing strategies (Channel and Audience) and to analyze digital marketing journeys, and track and optimize their performance. These relationships are key to success in the role. Our collaboration extends to CIBC Digital teams including Digital sales and Strategy, Digital Paid Media, personalization, Data Integration, and Agile Sales & Marketing to drive lasting improvements that focus on promoting products that are most relevant to our clients. Our team is accountable for developing a holistic story that is easy to digest by various audiences including senior executives. We obsess with understanding the entire client journey and making data driven recommendations that feed into robust Close The Gap plans when applicable with a focus on optimization opportunities.

How You’ll Succeed


  • Leadership & Communication –You will lead a team to set standards and to develop and execute the Marketing Data and Analytics roadmap with the goal of delivering timely, accurate, fulsome and efficient performance reporting, and allocating more time and effort on proactive insights. You are keenly focused on improving overall team collaboration, efficiencies, and performance. You consistently seek ways to ensure the team is taking initiative and producing a high volume of quality work. As Director, you embrace the principles of continuous improvement and proactively play a change agent role demonstrating your motivation to see the larger team succeed. As Director, you have a proven track record with leading high performing teams accountable for digital and direct measurement & insights. You possess strength in building collaborative teams from the ground up and leading others in an ever changing landscape. You are highly successful with developing others to realize their full potential.
  • Measurement & Insights Talent – As Director, you are accountable for attracting, hiring, onboarding, and retaining digital measurement & insights talent with both on-site and off-site (i.e. paid marketing) experience. You will lead a team with proven experience analyzing digital marketing data; developing audience segments for deeper analysis and actioning through optimization tools (i.e. Adobe Target); leveraging data management platforms (i.e. Adobe Audience Manager) to optimize digital media, website and mobile app user experiences. On-site talent will have extensive knowledge of at least one digital reporting suite (i.e. Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics). Off-site talent will possess specialized knowledge with advertising platforms (i.e. Google, Facebook, Amazon) and experience with analyzing digital media data (i.e. Google Ads, Campaign Manager, SA360, DV360). Off-site talent will also have experience with Data Studio, Google Cloud Architecture, BigQuery Date Warehousing, Google Analytics.
  • Digital and Direct Marketing Analytics & Insights –You lead a team accountable for proactively driving initiatives to successful completion. You will be detailed oriented, highly analytical, diligent and passionate about using data and insights to tell a powerful story. The team is responsible for analyzing and gleaning insights from data using a multi-step approach including i) Ingest: sourcing the data, ii) Transform: prepare, clean, and transform the data, iii) Analyze: derive insights from the data and connect with past performance and business context iv) Storyboard & visualize analysis in a simple and memorable way to address diverse audiences. The team has experience with developing forecasts and deriving insights by leveraging multiple data types (ex. client attributes, marketing assets, etc) to inform on-site, paid media, audience, and personalization optimization opportunities. As Director, you will lead a team that will be a trusted consultant to our line of business partners, contributing to the development of a multi-platform campaign strategies.
