Overview
Reporting directly to the Vice President, and Chief Information & Technology Officer, the Director, Data Management & Analytics is accountable and responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of the Corporation’s data management and analytics functions.
This role involves leading a team of data professionals with a focus toward the generation of both tactical and strategic business value for the Corporation through well-managed data assets. This is attained by establishing data governance policies, ensuring data quality and integrity, and maturing the Corporation's data-driven decision-making capabilities. The Director, Data Management and Analytics works closely with cross-functional teams to identify data needs, design analytics solutions, and provide actionable insights to drive business growth and operational efficiency.
The Director, Data Management & Analytics is responsible for overseeing and building the vision, strategy, and planning of the enterprise’s data assets and external data ecosystem, assisting the Corporation’s capabilities in developing insights with advanced analytics and becoming more data-driven.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the optimal usage of data and analytics at MPI including active engagement in strategic planning for future data and analytics needs.
- Support the development of the division by participating in updating and prioritizing the division’s directional plan.
- Design and delivery of programs, projects, and agile initiatives which achieve outcomes identified in the Data Strategy.
- Accountable for effective data engineering practices and processes to ensure the effective, efficient, and secure transport of data between physical data management, data processing solutions, and business intelligence applications.
- Responsible for the alignment and enhancement of data architecture capabilities with a focus on enterprise data models and practices which ensure they are maintained and optimized.
- Create a performance culture providing the support and tools to ensure team success.
- Responsible for the establishment and execution of the corporate Data and Information Governance program to address business needs and ensure applicable corporate policies are in place and adhered to.
- Ensure practices and delivery of data/analytics functions operating within strategic initiatives, and for providing strategic guidance to those initiatives.
- Effective management of all corporate data, including physical data management, data processing solutions, and business intelligence applications.
- Accountable for the creation of the corporate Data Strategy and ensuring ongoing alignment to business strategy to produce quantifiable and impactful business outcomes.
Qualifications
- University degree in Computer Science and Engineering, Information Systems, Statistics, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- Experience collaborating with or managing complex cross-departmental teams in a Lean-Agile environment is an asset.
- Five years at a senior management level.
- Industry certification related to data (such as DAMA-DMBOK2) is an asset.
- Five years of experience leading or executing large-scale Data programs, managing multiple, large, cross-functional teams or projects, influencing the Board, Executive team, and senior management and key stakeholders.
- Experience working in a multi-stakeholder, global matrix management environment.
- Five years of experience in Data Analytics and Management.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with a history of developing and leading a team.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) is an asset.
- Ten years of related senior-level experience in the areas of information technology management, project management, and business improvement in a complex business environment, including:
- Post-graduate degree in a related discipline is an asset.
