Design Leader - Senior Manager / Director

MaintainX is the world leading mobile-first workflow management platform for industrial and frontline workers. We've raised $54 million in venture capital following a recent Series B funding round led by Bessemer Ventures, August Capital, Amity Ventures, Ridge Ventures as well as the founders of UiPath and Thumbtack.

We’re looking for MaintainX's first Design Leader, to help us build our design foundations, grow our team, and establish our brand and product identity. This is a role for a creative, strategic and autonomous individual that excels in a fast-paced environment. You will immediately lead two organizations: Brand Design and Product Design. On Brand Design, you will be charged with establishing our brand voice so that it can speak to our SMBs and Enterprises across a number of industries. On Product Design, you will partner with our product leaders to define the next evolution of our product and inspire your team in executing on it.

You’ll have an opinion about the right direction to go, the flexibility to change course when needed, and the communication skills to provide clarity to the rest of the team.

Our current Design Team is based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We work on all Product, Visual and Motion initiatives across the company, and count with 8 great designers (so far). We work on a daily basis with our folks from Canada and the US.

What you'll do

• Improve operational excellence for the team by determining the right processes and tools that will enable designers to work efficiently, creatively and collaboratively
• Define and maintain the design and quality bar for our product and our brand
• Establish the foundations for customer research by incorporating people, resources and processes that help us determine the best approaches and methods to follow, in order to capture the insights we need
• Partner with Product and Engineering to define the product strategy and roadmap that will enable the company to scale R&D while building out the next evolution of our product
• Manage and scale the Design Organization based on company needs across both Brand and Product
• Lead the definition of our brand identity in partnership with Marketing to help drive our GTM strategy in attracting SMBs and Enterprises within Manufacturing and future industry verticals
• Help cultivate the design culture within the team and along the company by including user-centric design thinking across all our initiatives and maintaining a collaborative design process

What we're looking for

• You have experience with data-driven decision-making, but also have an ability to manage ambiguity with solid customer and business intuition
• You are a Figma Master and have a deep and updated knowledge on design tools and engineering best practices
• You have empathy for customer needs but can also consider technical constraints and business goals. You’re passionate about inclusive design and accessibility
• You have a proven track record of designing successful products that users love. You have a background as a Visual, UX/UI and Product designer
• You lean towards fast execution and is able to balance providing value to users quickly while building scalable solutions
• You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and is able to communicate your ideas to the team and company leads
• You have a minimum of 5+ years of experience as a design lead/manager and you’re passionate about developing designers’ skills and careers
