Job Description

Day In The Life:

The Senior Manager, Digital Engineering is accountable for multiple projects and works to identify and support the growth of needed capabilities for successful delivery – be they app development, data integration, test automation, etc.

The Manager’s primary goal is to lead team members and facilitate their work while feeding a culture that emphasizes customer experience, quality engineering, and innovation in a global delivery setting.


What You Will Do:

  • Communicate release details and schedules to the Business as required
  • Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews
  • Drive innovation at a software product level and contribute ideas to the product roadmap
  • Enable predictable and iterative software delivery by providing leadership in an Agile team environment
  • Bring expertise in investigation and resolution of technical problems within the organization
  • Design and develop world-class software applications to bring industry-leading shopping experiences to market
  • Ensure software architecture aligns with user needs to bring high-value products to market
  • Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
  • Negotiate, plan and manage all release activities
  • Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and evaluate the applicability of new software technologies for ensuring the best possible consumer experience
  • Work with release engineers to understand impacts of branches and code merges
  • Participate in CAB meetings to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks
  • Lead and co-ordinate the Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment Plans and checklists.
  • Build a culture of pride and ownership over code quality, scalable architecture, security, and data privacy
  • Continually work towards making improvements in the release process
  • Forward plan the release windows and cycles across a portfolio
  • Produce Deployment, Run Books and Implementation Plans
  • Mentor junior managers and emerging leaders
  • Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations
  • Develop scripts and automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases to various platforms
  • Be responsible for weekly release reporting
  • Maintain a release repository and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists
  • Communicate all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, QA plans, schedule, and scope changes
  • Maintain the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors.


What You Will Need:

  • NewRelic / DataDog / Splunk
  • CI / CD pipelines
  • 7+ years of experience in software development, with a focus onhands-on systems architecture, interoperability, and data integrity.
  • Server-side programming: NodeJS / ReactJS / Javascript / Scala / Java
  • Deep hands-on technical and architectural experience with current ability to write significant code, build systems from scratch, and maintain or re-architect legacy in-house built systems
  • CircleCI / Jenkins / GoCD
  • Automated testing frameworks and TDD
  • Relevant experience in optimizing data flows between multiple systems, architecting data integrity, single source of truth, and providing the right digital solution for internal stakeholders
  • Deep understanding and experience with many of the following technologies:
  • Docker / Kubernetes
  • Natural problem solver who understands how to start from the why, and uses first principles to get to a meaningful what and how
  • AWS products and architecture
  • An exceptional leader with an ownership mentality
  • Data-driven, analytical, strong communicator, who understands and relishes in the big picture, but understands the importance of every detail
  • Steeped in understanding and practice of agile software development
  • 3+ years leading teams of engineers
  • Consummate collaborator that seeks to find optimal trade-offs, and provide confidence in myriad stakeholders to whom your team will provide solutions
