Position summary
Reporting directly to the Director of Corporate Development, the Manager of Corporate Development’s underlying responsibility is to assist with analyzing various investment opportunities through the preparation and presentation of business plans. The Manager will also be responsible for monitoring the financial performance of all MSC divisions through budget reviews and periodic meetings with all department heads, in addition to reviewing monthly KPIs and ensuring annual ISO compliance and ESG reporting. The Manager should have an analytical mindset and should be able to communicate effectively financial results, while identifying problem areas and proposing viable solutions.
Key accountabilities
- Assist the executive team with the preparation of quarterly business review presentations.
- Support the Director in any other requests or requirements on a daily basis.
- Review existing and propose alternative KPIs across the organization.
- Gain knowledge of external factors, notions of the shipping cycle and their impact on the organization.
- Ensure annual compliance for ISO and ESP reporting.
- Support the organization on any ad-hoc projects as requested by Management.
- Review of the monthly actual vs. budget results for all MSC divisions.
- Review weekly sales performance of all MSC divisions.
- Lead the due diligence process on all investment opportunities.
- Lead in the creation of business plans for all strategic opportunities that are brought to the Corporate Development team, such as business acquisitions, partnerships, joint-ventures, real estate investment and development opportunities, application for government subsidy programs and other opportunities that may come up.
- Execute all projects within established deadlines.
Qualifications

This position requires a strategic, managerial, and analytical mindset who can demonstrate the following characteristics:
- Attention to detail with excellent time management skills, particularly under pressure: Is able to maintain both the quality and the productivity standards, ensuring accuracy, correctness and speed are maintained, when deadlines are tight, and the pressure is on.
- Ability to multi-task: Able to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Technologically savvy, with the ability to familiarize themselves with other computer software such as PowerBI, SAP, etc.
- Organizational Skills: Able to manage the workload, to prioritize, and to manage their time effectively, ensuring a seamless and frictionless process, approaching problems logically and with professional judgment.
- Experience in shipping, transportation and/or logistics industry (an asset).
- CPA or CFA designation strongly encouraged.
- Excellent ability to analyze and problem solve using creative out-of-the-box thinking.
- Follow-up skills: Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency and promptness as well as consistency in following up unresolved issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills: Able to communicate in a concise and professional manner, using correct grammar and proper syntax.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite, specifically with Excel.
- 10+ years of relevant work experience recommended.
