About Us Discovery Health Care Foundation offers a rewarding opportunity for a talented individual to assume leadership of a successful organization. Our Foundation is dedicated to improving health care services by raising funds for the health care facilities in our region (Bonavista Peninsula, west to Charlottetown, Clarenville area, east to Bellevue and the Burin Peninsula as far as Swift Current). The successful candidate should have proven experience as a fundraising and organization development specialist, with several years of management experience in a non-profit organization or a similar environment. Job Summary The Chief Development Officer reports to the Board of Directors, the CDO is responsible for developing and implementing plans and events designed to effectively cultivate and steward individual, group, and corporate revenue resources in support of the organization.
Some of the key responsibilities are:
• Formulate short and long term goals concerning fundraising effort of the organization
• Develops actionable strategies for meeting and exceeding those goals through grants, sponsorships, gifts, donations, and fundraising events through in-person, online and virtual forums.
• Structures the resource development team to best approach a variety of financial development goals.
• Raises awareness of the organization and its primary goals through outreach efforts, regular events in the community, publications, and media relations.
• Discovers new and potentially lucrative revenue streams for expansion of the organization’s fundraising efforts.
• Establish a balanced mix of donor sources and fundraising programs to attract and retain donors and fundraising volunteers
• Promote a positive atmosphere with the Foundation, working cooperatively with all team members and volunteers to achieve goals and objectives.
• Maintain accountability and ensure compliance with all regulations and laws, as well as the code of ethics for fundraising professionals
• Preparation of monthly and annual financial statements.
• Represent the Foundation through public appearances and presentations.
• Travel may be required (requires use of a personal vehicle)
Job Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, or a related field. Equivalent combination ofeducation and work experience may be considered
Experience • The successful candidate should have proven experience as a fundraising and organization development specialist with several years of management and social media experience in a non-profit organization or a similar environment.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
• Strong interpersonal, decision-making and leadership skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Analytical thinking and ability to analyze data
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Multi-media platforms
• Proven track record of success in fundraising.
• Demonstrated history of leadership, project management, public relations, group facilitation, or event planning
• Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide variety of potential donors and supporters
• Effective public speaking skills are required
Other
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
• Use of a personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement)
Salary and Benefits
Salary scale is $55,541 - $72,203 per annum
Benefits include Life, AD&D, Dependent Life, Health, Dental, and Pension Plan
