Vice President Product Development- Montreal

We are working with a global client who are technology innovators dedicated to making the underground mining industry safer and more efficient. We are currently looking for a VP Product Development to drive the innovation and execution of their underground mining technology solutions.

This Vice President Product Development will report directly to the CEO and be responsible for overseeing the entire product development process, whilst leading a cross-functional team of engineers and designers. The role will be based at their Montreal HQ, with up to 25% travel to remote sites.

Key functions for this Vice President Product Development are as follows:

• Owning the New Product Development (NPD) process and the engineering portion of any manufacturing cost optimization initiative.
• Tracking and evaluating a broad range of emerging and novel technologies to determine maturity and application to the enterprise.
• Defining and executing the product development roadmap aligned with the company's overall strategy and goals.
• Building, leading, and mentoring a high-performing product development team, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and excellence.
• Identifying market trends, emerging technologies, and industry needs to guide the development of innovative software and hardware solutions.
• Collaborating with executive team and stakeholders to establish a clear vision for the product portfolio.
• Developing and implementing engineering standards, design specifications, and engineering change process.
• Overseeing the end-to-end product development process, from concept ideation to design, development, testing, and deployment.
• Engaging in cross-functional and departmental initiatives and provide leadership to manage the information flow of engineering design releases through the revision and release cycle.
• Managing resource allocation, budgeting, and timelines to ensure on-time and within-budget project delivery.
• Owning the translation of the functional requirements from product management to technical requirements with a sufficient level of detail for execution by the Product Development team.

Essential requirements are:

• Strong experience building scalable software, hardware and firmware products.
• A minimum of 20 years' experience in a similar position, and in progressively responsible positions.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic engineering.
• The successful candidate must be based in, or willing to relocate, to Montreal.
• Any mining experience, particularly underground, would be considered a plus.
• Strong experience building and managing high performing product development teams.
