Reporting directly to the Director of Corporate Development, the Reporting Analyst’s underlying responsibility is to analyze and report on business unit performance through the creation and maintenance of dashboards and assist in the analysis of Corporate Development initiatives. The individual should have an analytical mindset and should be able to communicate effectively on financial results, while identifying problem areas and proposing viable solutions
Key accountabilities
General Tasks
- Gain a macro view across core business departments, through participating in e-learning modules, job rotations and/or instructor led trainings to gain a broader perspective of the organization’s goals and processes.
- Support the Director with any other requests or requirements on a daily basis
- Execute all projects within established deadlines.
- Gain knowledge of external factors, notions of the shipping and logistics cycle and their impact on the organization.
Specific Tasks
- Analyze monthly actual vs. budget results for all MSC divisions.
- Create dashboards and run KPI reports on daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly basis.
- Ensure data integrity of the reports provided.
- Review existing and propose alternative KPIs across the organization; and
- Use statistical tools to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns and trends in complex data sets.
- Assist with the preparation and creation of quarterly business reviews.
- Assist with special projects relating to corporate development.
- Support the organization with any ad-hoc projects as requested by Management.
Qualifications
All MSC Canada employees are expected to exhibit the MSC Values, striving to drive customer centric results in all interactions with colleagues and customers alike. This position requires a strategic, and analytical mindset who can demonstrate the following characteristics:
- Experience in shipping, transportation and/or logistics industry (not required, but an asset).
- Ability to multi-task: Able to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- 3-5+ years of similar or relevant work experience.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite, specifically with Excel (strongly encouraged).
- Organizational Skills: Able to manage the workload, to prioritize, and to manage their time effectively, ensuring a seamless and frictionless process, approaching problems logically and with professional judgment.
- Follow-up skills: Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency and promptness as well as consistency in following up unresolved issues.
- Excellent ability to analyze and problem solve using creative out-of-the-box thinking.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills: Bilingual (French / English) - written and spoken.
- Attention to detail with excellent time management skills, particularly under pressure: Is able to maintain both the quality and the productivity standards, ensuring accuracy, correctness and speed are maintained, when deadlines are tight, and the pressure is on.
- Technologically savvy, with the ability to familiarize themselves with other computer software such as PowerBI, SAP, etc. (strongly encouraged).
