Summary
Reporting to the Director, Financial Applications, the Senior Business Analyst, Financial Reporting Applications is responsible for the growth and development of Brookfield Renewable's Financial Consolidation and Reporting application portfolio. This role will focus on managing and delivering key system improvements and projects that enhance the useability and business value of these systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead and convene working groups to address specific problems identified with application functions and features;
- Assess vendor roadmaps and determine the impacts on the long and short-term lifecycle planning process for financial system upgrades and new application or system procurement;
- Govern and manage external consultants engaged to work on system projects;
- Collaborate with the business stakeholder teams in the planning, design, configuration and deployment of new functionality and enhancements to existing and planned applications;
- Elicits, analyzes and documents business system requirements; prepares formal documentation;
- Support the resolution of critical, escalated system incidents;
- Work with functional managers to define business requirements and system goals, and identify and resolve system issues;
- Manage and drive external consulting relationships and related deliverables;
- Work with application stakeholders to develop objectives, set priorities, and participate in planning for the systems including developing multi-year roadmaps and plans.
- Perform unit testing of system improvements; plan, coordinate and support user acceptance testing;
- Primary software vendor relationship manager;
Experience
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of complex financial consolidation concepts and underlying accounting theory and principles;
- Familiar with business analysis methodology and frameworks;
- Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines;
- Ability to work effectively in ambiguous or changing situations; ability to manage time effectively;
- Experience as an business systems analyst or implementation consultant in the consolidation and financial reporting software realms (e.g. HFM, OneStream, IBM Cognos Controller, etc..);
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally and affectively with executives, managers, and subject matter experts;
- Ability to identify problems and deal with situations and issues proactively;
- Strong analytical and management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements;
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work in a conscientious, consistent and thorough manner;
- Exposure with internal control procedures and audit requirements in relation to data access, security and master data configuration would be an asset. Has worked in a SOX environment.
Qualifications
- Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) preferred;
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Information Technology or related field;
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in a systems management, business analysis, or finance capacity.
