Position Summary

The Senior Financial Analyst, Financial Reporting, is a key team member in the Company’s Corporate Finance team. Reporting to the Director, Finance, you will assist with establishing the financial standards for the Company and work cross-functionally to ensure accounting policies are implemented operationally. This includes development of accounting policies, establishment of efficient and accurate reporting processes and implementation of internal controls to ensure the highest standard of financial reporting. This role will also focus on technical accounting issues, compliance and M&As.

Key Accountabilities

• Assist with M&A activities including due diligence and post-acquisition integration activities
• Perform ad-hoc projects, reports and analysis as required
• Assess the impact of technical accounting issues under both ASPE and IFRS, including revenue recognition, business combinations, leases, effects of changes in foreign exchange rates
• Identify risks and internal control gaps, as well as design controls to mitigate risks and address gaps
• Manage external audit as the first point of contact for all queries raised and provision of information
• Prepare journal entries to record the impact of technical accounting issues, including managing revenue schedules/module.
• Develop process improvements to support more efficient financial reporting cycles
• Research and assist in establishing accounting policies for a growing company

Skills/Qualifications

• Able to tailor communication style and approach to different levels in the organization
• CPA or equivalent designation
• Must be able to recommend alternatives and provide options
• Proven technical accounting ability and can identify opportunities for improvement and ownership of driving these to completion
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written
• 5+ years work experience in accounting, preferably with a mix of industry and public accounting
• Exposure to IFRS 15 and ASPE Section 3400
• Dedicated team player, who takes ownership of tasks assigned, demonstrates initiative and independence
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
• Advanced level competency in Microsoft Office
• Thrives in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
• Superior process documentation skills
