Assisting the Finance Manager, Corporate Reporting in oversight and implementation of new accounting standards under IFRS

Preparation of annual consolidated financial statements and monthly reporting packages

Execution of financial close process, including month end consolidated journal entries, reconciliation of accounts, and statement of cash flows

Provide advice and guidance on all technical accounting matters including research of IFRS standards

Write and/or review memos on complex accounting issues

Prepare ad-hoc analyses and reports to support the senior finance management team or business units

Working knowledge and practical understanding of applicable IFRS and OSC/TSX reporting requirements

Support with the continuous improvement of finance processes, policies, and controls by identifying and implementing best practices where appropriate

Well-developed problem solving and decision-making capabilities

Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task

Exposure to other GAAPs (e.g. US, UK) and reporting requirements is an asset

Experience and knowledge of the Insurance Industry or benefit products and services would be considered assets

Recommends policies and procedures related to management of the accounting and general ledger processes and cost allocation activities.

Planning and analytical skills, including knowledge necessary to perform quantitative analysis and identify root causes of issues and develop value-added recommendations.

Completion of a degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.

Minimum five (5) years of experience as a financial analyst.

In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, accounting procedures, commodity taxes, budgeting, expenditure reporting, financial analysis, internal controls, and key performance indicators.

Well-developed interpersonal skills to develop effective relationships with business units.

3+ years of industry or firm experience (Big 4 preferred).

Residential real estate experience preferred.

Knowledge of IFRS accounting and financial reporting.

Knowledge of US GAAP accounting would be an asset

SOX experience would be an asset

Experience with consolidation and elimination entries preferred.

Having public company audit and/or financial reporting experience specifically with small to mid sized businesses is a must

Support the Senior Corporate Business Analyst in the ownership and maintenance of the GL Chart of Accounts (COA);

Prepare deliverables to support internal reporting of KPIs to senior management

Post-secondary degree in business, accounting, finance, or equivalent work experience

3+ years of financial reporting/corporate accounting experience

Experience in analysis of financial information/data

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Prepare supporting schedules for our periodic SEC and SEDAR filings as well as our statutory financial reporting

3-7 years relevant experience in investment accounting in the financial services industry

Strong working knowledge of various investment products and an understanding of investment accounting standards, controls, and reporting practices

Practical experience with accounts/portfolio structures and multi-asset portfolios (i.e., equities, fixed income, real estate, derivatives)

Solid experience with investment portfolio accounting systems; SimCorp Dimensions considered an asset

Extensive knowledge with 5 to 10 years of progressive finance experience

Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with members of the finance team and the business

Lead the implementation of systems and solutions with a finance impact

Build and foster relationships with the business, IT and other Finance areas to evaluate and support initiatives

Cultivate a continuous improvement mindset within the finance team

You have experience in project management.

You have 5+ years proven experience in an Accounting, Financial Analyst, or equivalent role.

You have a bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting or equivalent and ideally have your CPA, CMA, CA, CFA, or MBA.

You have experience with capital investments and reporting.

You have experience managing large capital investments and data consolidation and reporting.
