Primary Objective

This position’s primary responsibility includes timely and accurate corporate financial reporting for Altus Group Limited and its subsidiaries, including supporting financial schedules for the quarterly/annual financial statements, their accompanying notes, and the MD&A.

The candidate will have a high degree of interaction with the global finance team, including the Corporate Accounting team for our North American operations, as well as our international controllers and teams.

This position is a key preparer of consolidated and statutory financial analysis and schedules as part of the financial reporting team, which will ultimately be utilized in the preparation of various internal documents containing financial results to internal stakeholders, and in various public and regulatory reporting of the financial performance and results of the Company and its subsidiaries.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Statements and Analysis

• Assist with the monthly/quarterly/annual close process, including consolidation and financial statements
• Contribute to the preparation of quarterly/annual consolidated financial statements through the compilation of various note disclosures
• Analyze foreign exchange impacts on various financial statement accounts
• Prepare monthly/quarterly/year-end adjustment(s) of divisional information in order to provide accurate internal and external reporting in compliance with the Company’s accounting policies
• Assist with the reconciliation of statutory financial statements for foreign entities to the consolidated financial statements under IFRS
• Assist with working papers and reports for calculating tax provisions and filing tax returns
• Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements for internal purposes, including assisting with the preparation of monthly variance analyses
• Assist with the consolidated intercompany reconciliation process

Accounting

• Support the research and preparation of technical accounting memorandums
• Compilation of data and performing analysis in complex spreadsheets with large volumes of data
• Conduct the accounting for several holding companies

Other

• Liaise with internal and external auditors to provide working papers and responses to audit requests
• Support with the continuous improvement of finance processes, policies, and controls by identifying and implementing best practices where appropriate
• Prepare ad-hoc analyses and reports to support the senior finance management team or business units

Education/Professional Development/Work Experience Requirements

• CPA (CA/CGA) designation required
• Public company reporting experience
• Bachelor’s Degree

Technical Competencies Required

• Exposure to other GAAPs (e.g. US, UK) and reporting requirements is an asset
• Ability to handle complex technical accounting areas such as multi-currency consolidations and foreign exchange translations/transactions
• Exposure to SOX controls is an asset
• Proficient in financial analysis to identify unusual variations and trends that indicate possible exposures, and the ability to recommend countermeasures
• Exposure to Workday is an asset
• Working knowledge and practical understanding of applicable IFRS and OSC/TSX reporting requirements
• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
