Business Analyst/Project Manager (Regulatory Reporting)

Location: Montreal, QC (Hybrid Role)

Duration: 6 Months Contract **possibly extension for this position**

Suggested title: Business Analyst – Ledger Evolution / Business and Regulatory Projects Team

The scope of responsibilities includes the interaction with multiple stakeholders, project management, business analysis, technical support, and development of IT solutions in line with best practices established by Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB)

The position at a glance:

• The team works closely with distributed teams from Front-Office, IT Operations, Finance, Risk, etc.
• Act as the contact person within the project or maintenance teams and for the business line in relation to data and functional aspects
• Ensure that the solution meets the requirements set out to cover the business line's needs
• Enhances the ledger to support new reporting/legal/regulatory requirements and projects for operational efficiency.
• Understand and analyze the business line's needs in one or more functional areas, with the aim of developing the appropriate and sustainable solutions that are consistent with the entity's strategic plan and the associated portfolio of requests.

In detail:

• Perform the role of a Business Analyst at least of 80 % of the time and may be required to also perform the role of a Project Manager on certain projects.
• Contributes, in conjunction with the business line, to change management and roll out for the end customer
• Helps with the coordination of user communities
• Defines, formalizes, and obtains approval of the requirements set out to cover the expression of need in collaboration with the contributors involved, in accordance with the entity's practices
• Liaise with Finance, Risk, IT and Business users and representatives to understand needs, collect requirements (user, system, function, etc.) and prepare deliverables such as Business Requirement Documents, Functional Specifications Documents, Test Documents, Project Schedules, etc.
• Contributes to preliminary studies in liaison with the business line
• Build and implement interfaces/feeds from the ledger downstream to other systems to produce various reports: financial, risk, regulatory, management, etc. along with the controls to satisfy the quality requirements and established SLAs.
• Acts as the contact person within the project and/ or maintenance teams and for the business line in relation to data and functional aspects
• Build partnerships with assigned development and stakeholder teams.
• Build and implement interfaces/feeds from operating systems down to the ledger along with various controls to ensure high quality business and accounting data.
• Shares knowledge about the area of expertise and provides functional support
• Implement accounting rules/schemas and required controls for various financial products for prime brokerage/broker dealer, corporate finance, ALM Treasury, Forex, etc.
• Formalizes the expression of need and ensures it is approved by the business line
• Carries out reporting in accordance with the operating rules and practices defined for the scope
• Carries out or helps with the test activities within the functional scope
• Ensures that the solution meets the requirements set out to cover the business line's needs
• Supports the business line in carrying out user tests
• Helps to identify business line impacts generated by the solution and with the development of action plans
• Helps, where appropriate, to monitor the portfolio and prioritize requests within the scope of activity
• Clarifies, performs critical and constructive analysis and, where appropriate, compares the business line's needs against the entity's strategic plan

Required Skills:

• Knowledge on the Corporate Investment Banking products, Accounting and Financial and Regulatory Reporting Systems, Underlying Processes and Technology.
• Experience with data analytics tools such MS Excel, Power BI, Alterix, etc.
• Strong analytical, management and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to communicate and relate easily with IT, Finance users and back-office managers; and who can influence and align people to a common vision
• Demonstrate high ethical standards, integrity, conduct and compliance culture
• Qualified accountant or other relevant professional qualification with background in accounting.
• 5 years of experience as a business analyst with proven experience in writing Requirements (Business, Functional, Technical, etc.), Use/Test Cases, Test Plans, and other project deliverables.
• Proven organizational skills with excellent multi-tasking and prioritization skills
• Commitment to project deadlines, sense of drive and urgency
• Bachelor's degree or relevant Master degree in business, accounting, or information technology (or international equivalent)
