What's it like working as a Business Technology Support Specialist at Questrade?


Reporting to the Business Technology Support Team Lead, the Business Technology Analyst is part of a team responsible for Questrade’s multi business line platforms. The Analyst provides expert support to Trading, Back Office & Compliance departments. Responsibilities include administering and leading the change management process, providing timely updates via regular meetings and electronic reports, participating in Change and Incident Management processes, and championing varios IT risk analysis and assessments.


The successful incumbent is able to effectively merge governance and service management with technological knowledge and skills obtained through years of relevant industry experience.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative problem-solving skills
  • Champion the Change Management process, encompassing all changes in Questrade’s Technology Group
  • Ability to assess, prioritize and track remediation activities of issues from start to finish.
  • Motivated self-starter
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and User Acceptance Testing for upgrades and new releases
  • Ability to work across multiple silos within the organization, manage relationships with senior stakeholders to successful outcomes and an ability to address complex situations into actionable plans.
  • Experience in various IT risk analysis and assessments
  • Investigate and triage tickets through Jira Service Management
  • Work with the business and vendors to escalate and communicate end user issues
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
  • Results and solutions oriented
  • Complete detailed and accurate Incident Reports for outages affecting production systems
  • Provide timely updates via regular meetings and electronic reports. Participate in discussions as subject matter expert on Change & Incident Management processes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


So are YOU our next Business Technology Support Specialist? You are if you…


  • Strong communications skills both verbal and written for a client facing role proven team player
  • 3 plus years of production support experience, preferable in the capital markets industry or lending
  • Experience in IT Audit/Assurance and SOC control testing, either as part of internal or external audit
  • Having a growth mindset with eagerness to learn new systems, processes and technologies.
  • Experience and knowledge of IT Governance, Risk and Compliance processes and tools.
  • Experience in a QA role working with scripts and acceptance testing
  • Knowledge of Mortgage and Banking Business Processes
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and managing new IT governance processes.
  • Experience with Software Development Life Cycle
  • Technical support experience
  • Experience with Incident management
  • Experience with Change Management
  • Ability to work on a flexible time schedule outside of normal working hours. Willingness to start early or stay late, as required
  • Working knowledge of both Windows and Linux operating systems
