Job Details
Position Title: Faculty Support Digital Specialist, Digital Learning
Status: Initiatives and Opportunities (I/O) Contract
Hours: 37.5 hrs/week
Faculty/Department: Innovative Learning, Digital Learning
Campus/Location: North, Lakeshore and IGS campuses with some opportunity for hybrid work (20 to 40% of a typical week could be online at non-peak times in the year depending on the department’s needs).
Salary: Payband G - $30.87 - $35.77
What You Will Do
Reporting to the Associate Dean, Digital Learning, the incumbent Faculty Support Digital Specialist (FSDS) will play a critical role when it comes to supporting the Innovative Learning Support Centre (ILSC). The individual will create and implement instructional skills opportunities surrounding the use of Humber’s learning management system (LMS) and related educational technology tools and play a key role in keeping resources up-to-date and accessible across the College. This may range from the creation of workshops, webinars and video series, to one-on-one consultations and support for the LMS and other educational technology tools.
The FSDS will also help mentor and train others who have positions in the ILSC. Working collaboratively with other members of the Digital Learning and Teaching Excellence teams, the FSDS will play a significant role in supporting and training LMS users across the college. The incumbent will also be required to work independently and collaboratively in a team consisting of front-end web and multimedia developers, graphic designers, faculty, educational technology specialists, support centre advisors, instructional designers, and other stakeholders. The incumbent must also possess strong leadership and relationship-building skills, be goal-oriented, be able to deal with conflicting priorities, have strong project management skills and possess excellent communication skills. The incumbent will also be responsible for staying current on research and assessing trends and technologies related to instructional design, LMS developments and trends in educational technology.

What you bring to the role:
An MA or MEd in a related field is preferred, along with certificates, badges, courses, micro-certs related to Learning Management Systems, coaching, training, and educational technology tools. A deep awareness of the challenges and opportunities faced by faculty and students in the current state of post-secondary online and EdTech facilitated learning environments.
Skills/Experience
A minimum of three (3) years working with learning management systems, as well as a similar experience with the engagement with the design and development of online courses and digital experiences, and work within an adult learning environment or a professional learning or development arena. A demonstrated, mature ability to design and deliver workshops and experience with the development of scalable resources for post-secondary instructors.
Working awareness of AODA legislation, the UDL framework, adult learning principles, along with deep comfort with technology and working in an ever-changing environment. A growth mindset for self and others. The ability to make timely suggestions for supports and communications that benefit the challenges faced by faculty as surfaced by the day-to-day experience of the IL Support Centre team. The vision to anticipate the trends and technological changes that will impact how we support the adoption of EdTech and to advise the department on ways we can work to be prepared to support our community.
