With offices in Toronto, Montréal, and Washington D.C., Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation (Salt + Light Media), a Canadian registered charity, is devoted to spreading the Light of Christ to the world through television, social media, podcasts, print, and other forms of digital communication in English, French, Cantonese, and Mandarin. Its specialty television network, Salt + Light TV, is carried across Canada on all major cable carriers, satellite TV, online, Roku, and Amazon Fire.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As our Canada Summer Jobs (hereinafter “CSJ”) Digital Content Creator, you will be creating original and derivative digital content, including marketing content with an emphasis on animation, for our digital media platforms including our: television channel, websites, social media, blogs, and podcast, among others. Reporting to our Marketing Manager, the CSJ Candidate will collaborate and execute projects from inception through to completion. The CSJ candidate will be working with various stakeholders across our programming, production, marketing, and fundraising teams to understand and support their creative needs.

• Edit video footage and add effects/elements to enhance motion graphics.
• Create social media content from inception through to completion.
• Work collaboratively with programming on promos/trailers for all in-house shows and acquisitions for distribution on social media platforms.
• Coordinate and schedule the timely delivery of creative products.
• Collaborate with a Graphic Designer and in-house producers to make creative decisions that will result in motion graphics.
• Create motion pieces to reflect the sub-brand and tone.
• Deliver high-quality motion graphics optimized for television/video/web/social media.
• Write, shoot, produce and edit compelling video and animated content.
• Design animated social ad units and posts, online web banners, digital signage, and animated GIFs.
• This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, and will at times require you to work on location.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Excellent attention to detail.
• Proficiency with design software such as Adobe CC, Illustrator, and Photoshop is required.
• Strong understanding of social media trends and best practices.
• Ability to create new graphic illustrations and use storyboarding skills with a solid understanding of typography and layout.
• Excellent, professional communication skills.
• In-depth understanding of key social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and TikTok.
• Excellent time and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate as a team player.
• Bilingual in English and French (an asset).
• Proficiently edit video footage with Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
• 2+ years of related experience in social media fields, such as social media content creation, social media management, video pre and post-production, photography, editing, and graphic design (portfolio required).
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a college diploma or equivalent work experience.

WORKING HOURS

Regular 40-hour work week (9 am to 5 pm) for 12 weeks.
