What You Will Do
Under the direction of the ITS Associate Director, Enterprise Solutions, and working closely with the Development/Integration Lead, the Business Analyst, Work Management is responsible for assisting the College by overseeing the work management processes for implementing cost-effective enterprise technology solutions that meet organizational needs by determining the requirements of the project(s) or program(s) and tracking and communicating them clearly to business stakeholders, technical teams, vendors, and partners.
The incumbent is responsible for anticipating requirements, uncovering areas of improvement, developing, and implementing work management processes and solutions including work intake, work tracking, work fulfilment, planning and estimating work, and documenting and communicating the results.
The Business Analyst is the key point of contact for our clients/partners within the ITS Enterprise Applications team, translating system and business requirements, explaining technical concepts to non-technical users, and acting as a bridge between the functional areas and the technical team.
Key Responsibilities
  • Work Intake
  • Work with stakeholders to drive adoption of delivered technology solutions
  • Make the work visible and transparent
  • Validate that work completed matches the desired outcomes and requirement
  • Be the Subject matter expert (SME) and administrator for ITS Enterprise Application’s work management tools (such as Microsoft Azure DevOps)
  • Capture feedback during reviews, making requirements refinements as needed to ensure that the business outcomes are met.
  • Work Management Tools Product Administration
  • Prepare business cases, impact analyses, cost/benefit analyses, and gap analyses.
  • Manage and Track Work
  • Prioritize and sequence the work to ensure that the team can deliver the highest business value iteratively and with highest level of quality
  • Identify risks and impediments, collaborating with stakeholders and technical teams to mitigate.
  • Lead solution upgrades, new feature adoption efforts and work management process improvements
  • Provide support for onboarding new projects.
  • Elicit the business outcomes and user needs.
  • Document outcomes and needs using user stories, prototypes, epics, process flows, personas, journey maps, wireframes, etc.
  • Facilitate and manage communications and relationships with stakeholders and technical team members from initial work intake to completion
  • Continuously refine documented requirements to ensure clarity and accuracy
  • Stakeholder Relations
  • Represent the stakeholders and their requirements to the technical team, ensuring that the team is always working towards delivering the highest value
  • Communicate and make visible the work being done by teams(s) to all stakeholders
  • Translate requirements into functional specifications for use by technical staff (eg. system design specifications, data integration logic, operating characteristics, and user interface)

What you bring to the role:
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) designation is preferred. Other certifications (s) include a certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA) Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), or equivalent experience
  • Four (4) year Degree, or equivalent, in a computer-related area and continued education in current information technology, business analysis, project management, or information management science
  • Agile and/or DevOps certification preferred.
Experience
  • Experience with ERP processes and/or systems is an asset, particularly in student, finance or HR
  • Extensive experience in requirement elicitation and management.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working with ERP technical solutions and understanding client's business functions, processes and needs.
Skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills, the ability to deal with competing demands/priorities, project management, facilitation and presentation skills, and excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Working level experience in business process re-engineering, current state and future state process mapping, fit-gap analysis, test plans, journey mapping
  • Extensive expertise in waterfall and agile methodologies
