Summary


Reporting to the SVP Corporate Development & M&A, the Associate, Corporate Development & M&A is a results-driven and detail-oriented individual who will be a key team member and support the entire M&A deal lifecycle from deal origination to deal execution to post-acquisition integration. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, exhibit excellent time-management skills and have strong communication skills to support the organization’s inorganic growth ambitions.


The successful candidate will be a key resource in M&A strategy and execution and will collaborate closely with executive management and external advisors, as well as have exposure to most internal organizations along the deal lifecycle.


Responsibilities


M&A Lifecycle


  • Assist and support due diligence activities with multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams.
  • Work closely with Business Development and Artists & Repertoire teams, under the guidance of SVP Corporate Development & M&A and other M&A leaders, to identify and evaluate acquisition and investment opportunities.
  • Support M&A strategy with analyses of market potential, customer needs, strategic and commercial fit, and financial attractiveness.
  • Engage in financial analyses of target companies and build valuation models.
  • Coordinate various M&A processes to provide reporting, status updates and action items for the broader M&A team.


Integration Management


  • Support the post-acquisition integration and post-deal management processes by coordinating various team members across the organization to ensure successful onboarding and integration of acquired business or assets.
  • Ensure the proper hand off to departments / teams to operationalize acquisitions.


Corporate Finance


  • Assist with the financing and deal approval process by preparing materials, extracting data and building financial models.
  • Work closely with Finance & Accounting, specifically sub-departments of FP&A and Corporate Finance to build financing analyses and cash-flow forecasts related to the M&A programme.
  • Assist and support financial reporting, performed primarily by Finance & Accounting, for acquired companies and assets.


General


  • Collaborate with various departments, organizations and teams to troubleshoot and identify solutions.
  • Guide other Corporate Development & M&A and Finance & Accounting team members as it relates to M&A activities.


Qualifications


  • Experience building detailed financial / valuation / M&A models;
  • Ability to gain credibility and trust with senior leaders and decision-makers;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance and/or Economics (or a related field);
  • CFA, CPA, MBA / MFin preferred
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills;
  • Strong and developed written / verbal presentation, communication, inter-personal and time and project management skills;
  • Experience across the M&A and investment lifecycle from deal origination to deal execution and documentation, to post-acquisition integration and management;
  • Solution and results oriented with ability to creatively/innovatively solve problems;
  • Music industry experience and/or knowledge considered an asset; and,
  • 2-3 years of experience in corporate development, private equity, investment banking / M&A advisory, or consulting;
