Role


This leadership position will be accountable for daily management and execution of all national account customers under their sales teams. This role includes the leadership and management of Directors of National Accounts and/or National Account Managers to include cross functional collaboration. The role will be responsible for the creation and delivery of disciplined customer business planning integration, strategy and execution plans. Accountable for customer; management, profitable volume growth, execution of corporate strategic imperatives and cross functional alignment. Owns development of required communication framework to effectively cascade information and initiatives to appropriate stakeholders.


The role will require individual skill set development capabilities and effective team building leadership and skills. The position will require excellent customer management skills, with the ability to act as a business consultant, communicator, coach, facilitator and one Sysco alignment capabilities


Must demonstrate strong contract management skills with the ability to effectively communicated customer execution plans across the Sysco system. This role will require the ability to build &; manage a customer wiring model that effectively connects Sysco at all levels and functions within all customers under their reasonability. A high level of executive maturity is required to manage customers at all levels of leadership. Ability to effectively communicate and align Sysco field operations to national customer execution and business growth strategies.


The role will require the ability to be the liaison between corporate departments: Merchandising, Finance, Marketing, Category management, Sales operations, Supply chain, Revenue management, Business Technology and sustainability.


The position will require the ability to train and develop direct reports on the skills of business planning, customer business reviews, management, customer wiring and all corporate development initiatives.


Role Responsibilities


  • In collaborations with the Sysco Sites and VP, National Sales to ensure contract compliance (influential selling) regarding product listings for menus, customer service, and delivery expectations
  • Is willing to drive Environmental, Health and Safety performance by providing necessary resources and holding their team accountable to complying with EHS programs, policies, and requirements.
  • Accountable for team expenses and budgeting
  • Support required sales forecasting process
  • Fully utilize internal CRM tools (including 360) to manage contacts and track opportunities and results
  • Responsible for the development of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) which maximizes profitability through customer case growth and penetration, category optimization, operational efficiency, and expense management
  • Prepare monthly period end reports for senior management which monitor service levels, category performance and portfolio sales and margin metrics.
  • Positively influence and shape a large and inclusive organizational culture to be one that’s productive, vibrant, and a desirable place to work.
  • Contact potential customers, on a pre-determined list of potential accounts, and lay the foundation for further discussion of opportunities for Sysco.
  • Understands both the economic and cultural value that a safe organization with minimal environmental impact brings to an organization.
  • Complies with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.
  • Direct, participate, and support the negotiation process for new and renewed master distribution agreements (MDA).
  • Build Strategic Account Plans and Playbooks anchored on performance, operational efficiency and service level expectations
  • Manage any issues, that may arise from both a Site & customer perspective utilizing Escalation Policy SOP.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to effectively lead change and transformational initiatives through sound change management practices that will ensure sustained adoption, including stakeholder engagement across multiple functions
  • Ability to be the liaison between Sysco Canada Support departments: Merchandising, Finance, Marketing, Category Management, Sales Operations, Supply chain, Revenue Management, Business Technology and Sustainability.
  • Prepare business reviews on a regular basis for all concepts within respective portfolio with the proper pre-review analysis by Business Partner team, identifying new opportunities & benefits of being Sysco partner
  • Understand the competitive landscape by representing Sysco at industry events and participation within trade associations.
  • Ability to be the liaison between Sysco Canada Support and Sysco USA
  • Hire and Develop (CMP/ Mentor) National Account Directors, Managers and Analysts to deliver outstanding service to our customers and Sites.
  • Coordinate EI deviations on Sysco Branded and Catman / SOURCE items.
  • Develop and lead sales strategy for customer base (annual sales $600M-$1B) and direct reports (3-8 associates).


Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements (About You)


  • Proven track record delivering on KPI’s, including top line and bottom-line business results.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience, including 6+ years in a senior sales or marketing role.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing with access to a vehicle is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels within the organization.
  • Exposure/familiarity to Lean Six Sigma environment is an asset
  • University Degree or Diploma in Business Administration or related experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role, with at least 3 years as a core member of a senior leadership team
  • Advanced knowledge of core business processes (Customer planning and management, sales and distribution, financial reporting, training, quality assurance).
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Excellent time management, problem solving and decision-making skills.
