What You’ll Do

The UNIX Administration Team is responsible for hardware & software administration and support of the enterprise technical infrastructure, including but not limited to UNIX operating systems, middleware, storage technologies. It covers management of performance, capacity, security, and recoverability for the above-mentioned technologies.

Key Accountabilities

• Participates in new and ongoing projects
• Ensures that backups (Systems and applications software and data) are performed successfully
• Leads/coaches/mentors team members on projects/tasks or assignments
• Installation/configuration and maintenance of Solaris, AIX and Red Hat Linux operating systems in physical and virtual environments
• Executes disaster recovery tests for all UNIX production servers
• Coordinates/Installs/Configures and supports operating systems and third-party software on UNIX systems ie Netbackup, IBM IIB/ACE, CX Messenger, Tomcat java application servers.
• Provides on-call support (7x24) for UNIX technical infrastructure
• Provides technical support for the UNIX infrastructure, including performance monitoring and capacity management
• Writes and debugs complex UNIX scripts

Skills, Knowledge, And Experience

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with supporting Storage Area Networks and a strong understanding of filesystems
• Excellent knowledge of UNIX administration of Solaris, AIX and Red Hat Linux operating systems in physical and virtual environments
• Strong understanding of VMware virtualization
• The ability to adapt to new technologies, procedures, and processes.
• Strong understanding of information security principles and best practices
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Strong shell scripting skills (bash, ansible)
• Be able to lead a team on various UNIX technology related tasks or projects
• Solid understanding of networks and SSL certificates
• Good understanding of AWS Cloud SysOps administration and build automation

Experience, Education

• 5+ years working experience with UNIX administration of Dell, Oracle and IBM servers and operating systems (AIX, Solaris, Red Hat Linux) in large complex environments
• Troubleshooting complex production issues
• University or College degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent industry experience
• Shell scripting
• Storage Array Networks (Dell EMC VMAX, PowerStore)
• Experience leading/supervising a team or project is an asset
