Job Summary:

Under the guidance of the Director, Compensation & Reporting, the Senior Analyst, Compensation & Reporting is responsible for supporting the development of Board materials, working on strategic compensation projects, and having a strong business process and innovation mindset as it relates to HR and Compensation. The mandate of this role spans a broad and diverse set of responsibilities across the Compensation team and requires the Senior Analyst to build strong relationships across the organization as well as collaborate with external parties. The Senior Analyst should have a strong curiosity, a thirst to challenge the status quo, and the ability to ask the right questions to understand the holistic picture. The Senior Analyst should also possess strong analytical capabilities including good financial modeling skills and the ability to synthesize and extract the story line from large data sets. Experience with confidential information is strongly desired.

What you will do:

Board Reporting and Analytics

Support the development of Board materials including:

  • Review baseline data used by external consultants in their analysis to ensure reasonability and appropriateness
  • Proactively provide new and innovative ideas to improve Board reporting, always keeping the audience and key messages in mind
  • Lead the preparation of accurate quarterly performance multipliers
  • Prepare and update compensation financial models to support recommendations to the Board and be able to start to convey and explain findings in a clear and concise format
  • Update Board reporting templates, coordinate with other Divisions including Finance, Risk, and Investment Management for information, and prepare first drafts in plain language format based on storylines developed by the Director
  • For Board approved changes, support the process for drafting communication materials for HRBPs, Recruitment, and Employee-wide consumption to operationalize the changes

Strategic Compensation Projects Support

  • Participate in various compensation projects including compensation design reviews which includes peer plan scans, preparing scenario modeling, updating incentive plan texts, developing communication materials, and working collaboratively with other Divisions to operationalize the changes
  • Demonstrate the ability to support the development of deliverables for strategic projects in creative ways, using graphs and other visual aids
  • Support the Director in the establishment of a Global Mobility capability including the development of a compensation package, running scenario analysis, and providing other support to establish the appropriate infrastructure within the HR division by working collaboratively across various workstreams

Other Initiatives

  • Support the Divisional Scorecard process to track performance against the operating and strategic plan by compiling, coordinating, and reviewing mid and end-of-year submissions from each Division
  • Seek to become a ‘thought leader’ on compensation by staying current on compensation trends and governance practices and supporting the development of compensation education and training materials
  • Prepare communication materials and work closely with Divisional Representatives
  • Continuously review processes, recommend improvements, and be an active contributor in supporting the improvements
  • Work closely with the external auditors on the annual incentive plan ‘agreed upon procedures’ engagement – compiling information requests and documenting key incentive compensation processes, where necessary

What you will bring:

  • Significant judgment and maturity in dealing with highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Strong financial modeling capabilities and ability to handle and manipulate large amounts of data
  • Excellent collaboration and relationship management skills
  • Strong curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving ability in navigating and resolving ambiguous issues
  • Ability to understand the context and begin to see how things fit in holistically
  • Ability to work in a high-performance culture, with an openness to constantly evolving and changing priorities, and new challenges
  • Able to work independently after receiving guidance to achieve expected outcomes
  • Analytical and methodical mindset
  • Prior experience/understanding of asset management and/or pension industry preferred, but not required
  • Good planning skills and ability to self-organize
  • 5 – 7 years of relevant experience in Compensation or Human Resources
  • Strong writer and ability to expand upon a storyline once the framework is set
  • Good presenter and strong communicator
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • High attention to detail
