Senior/ Actuarial Team Lead

As a Senior/Team Lead on the Commercial Pricing team, you will be leading rate initiatives to drive profitable growth for Commercial Insurance (Aviva Business and Global Corporate Specialty). You will get the opportunity to use data to put the customer first at a massive scale, overlaying that with deep business knowledge to create actionable insights and tools that support Aviva’s strategic priorities and help customers defy uncertainty.
As a Senior/Team Lead, you provide mentorship/leadership to other staff, manage your projects, and create brilliant presentations. By finding solutions to challenging problems and presenting to senior management, you will have plentiful opportunities to take your skills to the next level.
What You’ll Do

• Lead/support management discussions with actuarial recommendations on various pricing initiatives, and proactively identify gaps and opportunities in existing proposals and future projects with suggested action items for remediation
• Develop tools to improve rate review process and review exhibits. A mindset of constant improvement towards efficient decision-making is key.
• Lead/support P&C indication, planning, and pricing initiatives and formulate pricing proposals to achieve rate adequacy and align with business strategic initiatives
• Build strong relationships with all key stakeholders at the head office and the field. Identify the needs of our partners and tailor solutions that serve their needs and maximize value for commercial insurance.
• Provide technical guidance to junior staff members and motivate them to perform at their best level. Coach junior staff members to develop their technical and personal skills. Act as a role model for the Aviva values and inspire others to follow them.
• Review rating algorithms to ensure the rating structure is reflective of emerging trends, underwriting insights, and data constraints
• Analyze business impact of pricing initiatives or pricing changes. Prepare and lead/support presentations or exhibit to the relevant stakeholders, underwriters and senior management.
• Be actively involved in the actuarial community at Aviva.

What You’ll Bring

• Minimum 3 years of P&C work experience
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience
• Ability to lead projects and manage timetables and stakeholders
• Actuarial curiosity to learn and explore new solutions
• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Math or Statistics or other related subjects
• Proficiency in Python and/or SAS. Knowledge of VBA is an asset
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to coach and mentor junior actuaries
• Minimum of 4 CAS exams
