Robotics/Automation Mechanical Engineer

Requirements:

• Familiarity with materials and manufacturing processes, including CNC/manual machining, additive manufacturing, casting, and metal fabrication.
• A strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, as well as specific skills related to robotics and automation.
• 5+ years of work experience
• Proficiency in CAD software, specifically SolidWorks and/or Fusion 360.
• Expertise in mechanical design, including knowledge of mechanical components, linkages, and custom mechanisms such as linear and rotary actuators.
• A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Experience working with various components, such as motors (steppers, servos, BLDCs), motor controllers/drivers, encoders, and optical/magnetic sensors.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with mechanical analysis techniques, including Finite Element Analysis.
• Passion for robotics and automation, demonstrated through personal projects or participation in robotic competitions.
• Ability to do CAM for 3+ axis machines, such as CNC milling/turning.
• Knowledge of firmware and embedded systems, including programming languages like C++ and Python, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and 32-bit microcontrollers.
• Familiarity with data communication protocols such as CAN bus, SPI, I2C, etc.
• Basic understanding of electrical circuit design, PCB layout, and electronics integration.
