The Mechanical Field Engineer is responsible for interface between the Construction Contractor and Owner/Design Engineer during construction and start-up of the power plant facility on items related to equipment and piping.
Job Duties:
1. Respond to Requests for Information (RFI), including proposing design changes which will be reviewed by the Responsible Engineer.
2. Coordinate issues with suppliers as they arise from the Construction Contractor. Coordinate Potential Change Orders (PCO) and backcharges with suppliers.
3. Evaluate and manage PCO’s from the Construction Contractor
4. Coordinate with Design Engineer on potential design changes and manage engineering change notices with Construction Contractor.
5. Evaluate and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCR)
6. Participate in site safety and environmental policies.
7. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
1. Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
2. Extensive experience in designing and/or constructing industrial facilities. Previous power plant experience is preferred.
Physical/Cognitive Requirements:
1. Primarily working at a power plant construction site. Must have the ability to traverse the construction site, climb ladders, stairs, and ungraded slopes, wear safety equipment including fall arrest system and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
2. Requires the ability to collect and analyze information to make decisions. Must have the ability to exercise sound judgment and solve problems; the ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities; the ability to read and apply financial and quantitative analysis; the ability to articulate and speak in front of others; the ability to work under stressful situations, good cognitive skills, ability to maintain accuracy in work, and the ability to concentrate on more than one task at a time. Must have the ability to understand and apply written/verbal instructions and the ability to delegate instructions.
