About the Job
Remedy Engineering is currently recruiting for the position of Intermediate Mechanical Designer.
Some of your responsibilities may include…
- Preparation of contract drawings using REVIT and AutoCAD software.
- Liaising with project stakeholders including owners and other design professionals to outline the scope of building projects.
- Conducting site visits and inspections to review progress of construction.
- Develop feasibility studies and author technical reports.
- Designing building mechanical systems which include HVAC, pluming, fire protection, building controls including system design calculations and equipment selections.
- Coordinating mechanical system requirements with other design disciplines.
- Assisting others in the office with multiple projects, supporting our team atmosphere.
Qualifications
Mandatory Qualifications
Intermediate Mechanical Designer
- Eligibility for registration with APEGA or ASET.
- Proficient with Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD software.
- Three to five (3-5) years of directly related industry experience designing mechanical systems (i.e., plumbing, heating, cooling, ventilation, fire protection, controls, etc.) in commercial, institutional, or public sector buildings.
- Strong written and verbal skills (English language).
- Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) or Technical Diploma in field related to a Building Design.
- Ability to work semi-autonomously with little supervision.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following traits, capabilities, or experience:
- The willingness to occasionally travel within and outside of Alberta to project sites or to meet with consultant and construction design teams
- Enthusiastic individual with a desire to learn and apply mechanical engineering and building technologies
- The ability to go above and beyond expectations and do what it takes to meet our clients’ expectations and project deadlines.
- Familiarity with current sustainable design initiatives.
- Strong contributor to our team with leadership skills
- An understanding of the building industry with an awareness of the work produced by other disciplines.
- Proficient with energy calculation software such as CAN-QUEST, eQuest, IESVE, etc.
- Fundamental understanding of project management principles including the capability to manage your work to meet a given budget
- Advanced skills with Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD software
- Proficient with heating and cooling load analysis software such as Trace 700, Carrier HAP or Block Load, etc.
