Job Description
One of our major clients in the oil and gas industry is seeking a Mechanical Designer to work within their facilities in Joffre, AB, on a one-year contract.


The individual will be responsible for providing collaborative mechanical design services. The mechanical designer plays a key role in pressure piping and equipment system design.


In This Role, You Will:


  • Interface with technical & operations engineering as well as planning, maintenance, and construction trades .
  • Maintaining engineering design data and drawings as required to maintain the integrity of engineering systems records .
  • Complete Process Piping & Mechanical design of non-capital expense projects using the company engineering standards to develop engineering drawings and select piping material.
  • Provide support as needed during field execution activities .
  • Interface with 3rd party engineering consultants and vendors.
  • Contribute to engineering work packages for construction (scope of work, detailed drawings, bill of materials, equipment specifications, datasheets).

  • Computer literate in MS Office applications and Adobe / BlueBeam .
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional groups within the organization .
  • Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills and the willingness to take initiative .
  • Ability to contribute and be seen as an informal leader.
  • Ability to work independently and manage own workload with minimal supervision, managing multiple projects and tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microstation CAD systems and computer-aided drafting .
  • Working knowledge of project engineering systems and work processes .
  • Demonstrated commitment to Responsible Care
  • Technical school diploma with 8+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Working knowledge of engineering design codes, regulations, and industry standards as applicable to specific discipline.
  • Eligible for C.E .T. (Certified Engineering Technologist) certification from ASET.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Management of Change (MOC) process and its importance
  • Knowledge and experience with SmartPlant Suite Design tools (including SP3D , SPISO & SPF).
  • Excellent interpersonal , communication, planning and organizational skills.
