Position Overview

Our rapidly growing multi-discipline engineering group requires additional intermediate mechanical engineers. The current projects underway include the design of green hydrogen production facilities, solar and wind renewable power generation, large scale CCGT power generation, lithium battery manufacturing, lithium recovery and processing, LNG, carbon capture and low carbon fuels just to name a few.

The initial focus of this positions will be for the design of mechanical systems typical for biogas, bulk solids material handling, food and beverage, and other industrial facilities including, but not limited to, process piping, conveying systems, dust collection, general plant/facility water, compressed air, and gas systems.

Location

This position is based out of Calgary, AB.

Responsibilities

• Design various mechanical systems including the preparation of design calculations and equipment specifications typical for bulk solids conveyors, dust collection equipment, bins/tanks, pumps, heat exchangers, boilers, and other process equipment.
• Work independently on small projects, or as a part of a large multi-discipline team on larger projects, including working with both in-house inter-discipline engineers and construction partners to provide our clients the industry’s best of both engineering and operating facility
• Develop schedules, work assignments, and staffing requirements to ensure successful project completion.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes, and Kiewit guidelines, providing suggestions and recommendations as needed.
• Perform early project design work such as conceptual studies, process flow diagram development, mass/energy balances, preliminary equipment sizing and selection, and general facility layout/arrangement.
• Generate and/or check design deliverables such as PFD’s, P&ID’s, datasheets, and vendor shop drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineering (PEng) or Certified Engineering Technologies (CET) designation preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree or Technical Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proficient in basic computing programs including the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Preferred experience utilizing AFT Fathom or AFT Arrow hydraulic simulation software (or equivalent).
• Experience in construction support, facilities commissions and startup and previous experience directing junior engineers is desirable.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated engineering design and management experience.
• Minimum 4+ years’ experience performing mechanical design in the any one of the oil and gas, power or industrial industries.
