Profile


This position is within the Airworthiness Engineering Department supporting the coordination of the aircraft certification and continuing airworthiness activities within the company, and between the company and the airworthiness authorities (primarily Transport Canada).


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Support to the Continuing Airworthiness Corrective Action process, including risk assessment and corrective action plan development, in accordance with the established procedures
  • Reports and assessment information for Service Difficulty Reporting investigations
  • Preparation and management of certification plans and compliance programs.
  • Modernization of the current Airworthiness Directive tracking database
  • Support the investigation and establishment of corrective actions for issues affecting the design compliance and/or safety of the aircraft as a whole or for any component, system or structural assembly
  • Coordinate with engineering to obtain design approval of changes to the Type Design, including design modifications, repairs, flight manual changes, and Airworthiness Limitation changes.
  • Facilitate discussions and agreements with Authorities on certification and product integrity activities, developing appropriate strategies and direction with Engineering and other technical groups
  • Risk assessment and corrective action plan development, in accordance with the established procedures
  • Service Difficulty Reporting investigations and governance process, and Coordinate certification approval of design changes.
  • The individual will ensure that the department/company deliverables and tools effectively support the company's obligations under the applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain adherence to engineering and Design Approval Organization practices when executing design changes
  • Initiate and oversea corrective action plans that require a design change and support the Design lead.
  • Coordinate certification approval of design changes internally and potentially with regulatory airworthiness authorities
  • Complete safety risk assessments, in conjunction with engineering and technical support groups, to record the technical information and potential risk of safety related events
  • Act as a focal for all communication relating to aircraft certification between the company and the Airworthiness Authorities


Education And Professional Qualifications


  • Graduation from a recognized college with mechanical engineering or aeronautics diploma with at least 5-years' experience in either maintenance, safety data analysis, or equivalent experience relevant to design certification
  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering, or a combination of equivalent education and experience


Experience


  • Previous work experience within a DAO, or equivalent, is an asset
  • Ability to read engineering technical information, including technical drawings and production documentation.
  • Excellent working knowledge of regulatory requirements and certification practices related to aircraft design approval
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in the aeronautical industry is an asset.
  • Previous work experience with Transport Canada Civil Aviation, Aircraft Certification Branch is an asset.
