Reporting to Supervisor, Systems Engineering, the Intermediate LTE Engineer is responsible for implementing and supporting industrial communications networks that enable improvements in the safety, productivity, and sustainability at Teck’s large-scale mining and mineral processing operations worldwide. This includes supporting private LTE, Microwave, and IPV4 Networks in collaboration with other internal and external teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide after-hours second level support for critical issues
• Implement system monitoring tools, processes and responsibilities for 24/7 network support
• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
• Create network design documentation and project deliverables
• Complete RF design work using RF propagation tools and capacity analysis to define sectors and frequencies bandwidths to support system requirements
• Work with service providers and equipment vendors to pick best solution, HW and SW to support technical design
• Define and support implementation of other Teck teams mine systems migrating to and operating on LTE network
• Collaborate closely with site personnel in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of wireless data networks and mobile computing hardware
• Support Teck mine site teams to install LTE network equipment on site
• Create and complete detailed test plans and reports to validate system operation
• Complete network interface design with Teck network groups and service providers and external vendors
• Support Teck LTE team members and external vendors to complete detailed design
• Complete backhaul WAN design for macro site connectivity via fiber, IPV4, or microwave techniques

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of related experience such as working on the build out of core and RAN networks
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Training and experience in IPV4 networking concepts an asset.
• Must be eligible for Professional Engineer membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the Province of BC or AB
• Must be willing and able to travel on-site up to 20% or more
• 1-2 years' of experience with LTE 4G network infrastructure design, deployment, optimization and operation
• At least 1 year of experience with build and deployment of LTE 4G infrastructure on-site
