Surge Energy Inc. is an oil focused E&P company that has a high-quality crude oil reserve, production and cash flow base. Surge is currently accepting applications for the position of Emissions Engineer, reporting to the Manager of Production Engineering. This role will be responsible for identifying and managing emission reduction projects, evaluating carbon offsets and new technologies, and preparing a framework for Surge Energy’s long-term emissions plan. The successful candidate will develop an emission reduction strategy, present ideas to peers and leaders, and create meaningful change to emissions while working closely a high performing multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities include:
- Work with various Surge teams to evaluate emissions implications of development cases and impact on corporate emissions targets.
- Forecast, analyze, and report current and future emissions projects, and manage potential changes to budget planning as required.
- Identify carbon offset opportunities, credit generation, and inventory including but not limited to coordinating measurement, verification, quantification, and certification.
- Manage emissions reduction projects including scoping, cost estimates, economics, AFE preparation, and presentation.
- Ensure all reporting data is current and complete and corporate policies & expectations are met.
- Spearhead corporate monthly emission reporting and forecasting.
- Proactively manage deliverables from service providers.
- Work with the Surge teams to identify, plan and execute emission reduction and optimization.
- Provide reporting on key performance indicators including project status, cost projections and schedule.
Qualifications:
- 10 years of similar experience working in the energy industry required.
- This role requires occasional travel to the field including remote areas. Some weekend work may be required.
- Software experience in emissions reporting and field data capture systems
- A degree in engineering or diploma in engineering technology is required.
- Knowledge of Alberta regulations is required, exposure to Saskatchewan regulations is an asset.
- Production engineering and field-based experience an asset.
- P.Eng or P.Tech (Eng) designation is required.
