POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Chief Mechanical Engineer, the incumbent is responsible for the advanced development and review of, Mechanical Engineering related matters, such as analysis, testing and implementation of new or improvement of the existing designs. Requires a working knowledge of established international standards, and ability to interpret specifications provided by company’s clients for various projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assess mechanical engineering needs pertaining to new and existing projects and apply existing engineering design or develop new designs as appropriate to meet identified needs.
• Troubleshooting issues to identify and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain documentation necessary to fulfill regulatory requirements including ISO 9001:2015.
• Analyze complex purchased and fabricated components to assure functional compatibility to design requirements.
• Occasional travel required.
• Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of design or applications.
• Ability to review, understand and provide feedback on 3D modeling tools to design layouts, calculations and detail design of new products such as, substructures/skids, Tanks, pressure vessels, piping, cyclones, and rotating equipment such as drums, conveyors, screens, pumps and fans, etc.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
• Guide and assist in development models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification.
• Confer with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding product specifications and manufacturing capabilities to achieve desired design.
• Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

• Working knowledge of 3D design software packages.
• Working knowledge of industry standards such as API, ASME, CWB/AWS, and OH&S.
• P.Eng Designation in good standing with APEGA is required.
• Excellent knowledge of process and material handling equipment.
• A degree in Mechanical Engineering a minimum of 7 years of related experience.
