Remote Support Engineer - Supporting West Coast

Integrated Security Technologies, Inc. (IST) designs, installs and services integrated electronic and physical security systems (access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance, physical barriers, etc.) for government and commercial entities. Though based primarily in the mid-Atlantic region, our team members dispatch to locations throughout the nation and occasionally overseas. In business for more than 20-years, IST continues to grow while maintaining a strong culture of teamwork.
IST is seeking a motivated self-starter for a Support Engineer in our company. The Support Engineer will report into the Service team and perform a variety of service, support and implementation tasks as assigned. General duties include, but are not limited to; service call triage, lab maintenance and support, preventative maintenance for service contract holders and escalation support for Software House projects involving enterprise solutions.
Attention to detail is a must to ensure all work is accurate and timely. Anyone performing in this role must have exceptional communication, computer and organizational skills and be able to balance numerous tasks at one time.
Duties And Responsibilities

• Triage incoming service calls with a goal of minimizing dispatches, where possible.
• Provide remote preventative maintenance services for service contract holders. Examples include but are not limited to the following.
• Windows patching and updates, as needed.
• System monitoring and health checks.
• Software and firmware upgrades.
• Software support agreement licensing updates.
• Work to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues.

Research and notify teams of the impact of security vulnerabilities for supported products.

• Vulnerability mitigation, where needed.

Support final build-out and maintenance of the engineering lab in Herndon, VA. Serve as an escalation point for field engineers and technicians. New system implementation, as necessary. Internal and external training as required.
Requirements

• Propensity for multi-tasking
• Must be adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people and situations.
• Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
• Degree in information technology or engineering a plus but not required.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience deploying and supporting electronic access control and video surveillance systems from varying manufacturers. Genetec, Software House, Gallagher and Milestone are a plus.
• Extremely organized and focused.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL.
• Hands-on experience with virtualized environments (HyperV and/or VMWare)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Deadline driven.
• In depth experience with Windows operating systems.
• Must work well independently and be able to provide training and guidance to lower level engineers and field technicians.
