What You'll Do


Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Partnerships Design & Operations within the Value Creation team, the Relationship Manager is a high-performing and results-oriented contributor.


The Value Creation (within Corporate Development) team has a broad mandate, which includes architecting and leading the integration of new businesses into CTC, the execution of divestitures and business wind-downs, strategic and operational support for complex business initiatives, and the facilitation of new Partnerships for CTC and Triangle Rewards.


More specific to this role, the Partnerships Design & Operations team within Value Creation is primarily responsible for developing Partnerships from inception to ongoing execution. The team leads cross-functional working groups to plan, operationalize and provide ongoing support for new partnerships. This role works with senior leaders from across the organization to bring to life a broad spectrum of partnerships, but with a grounded focus on evolving the Triangle Rewards loyalty program.


The Relationship Manager is focused on the ongoing management of Canadian Tire’s new loyalty partnership with Petro Canada. This role will be the owner of the Relationship with our Partner and is focused on ensuring the success of the Partnership in the short and long term.


The successful candidate for this position has managed complex projects, has experience building relationships with both internal and external parties and is comfortable working in fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment.


  • Lead the day-to-day communications between Petro Canada’s loyalty function and Canadian Tire
  • Lead the planning and execution of joint customer initiatives between the two parties
  • Collaborate with internal CTC functions to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the Partnership
  • Act as a steward for the Triangle Rewards Member to ensure that the program is delivering value to customers
  • Alongside the AVP, Partnership Design & Operations, set the strategic roadmap for the Partnership and lead the analysis required to support Executive decision making for key Partnership decisions
  • Serve as the business owner in working with the various Operations, Implementation and Marketing teams when managing when bringing to life new partnership capabilities/functionality
  • Analyze customer/member data to measure the success of and support future customer engagement initiatives through the Partnership
  • Represent the Partnership and its performance to internal Canadian Tire stakeholders


What You Bring


  • A client service orientation with experience building strong working relationships with external partners/clients/vendors
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines across multiple projects
  • Proven success in gaining credibility and building trust with colleagues and senior-level decision makers
  • Strong leadership skills and an ability to guide others in a cross functional team environment
  • Ability to independently navigate and contribute to discussions with various businesses and stakeholders
  • A genuine curiosity towards retail and the Canadian Tire Corporation ecosystem
  • Excellent business acumen with proven ability to ‘connect the dots’ across several considerations
  • A minimum of 4-6 years of experience in a high-calibre team planning and producing deliverables for complex strategic initiatives
  • Strong judgement for dealing with a senior audience and sensitive projects
  • Comfort working in ambiguous projects for which there is no “blueprint”
  • Experience building and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Retail and/or loyalty industry and operational experience is considered an asset
