Reporting to the Program Manager, Capital Delivery & Facilities is responsible for liaising with the Property Services Branch (PSB) and Housing Services Branch (HSB) to provide Paramedic and Senior Services Branch Management with: technical expertise in the planning, implementation and contract management of capital equipment purchases, improvement, renovation and rehabilitation projects; preparing various documents; inspecting and monitoring projects; preparing communications, reports and budget tracking; and conducting quality assurance inspections for the Long-Term Care Homes.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Under the direction of the Program Manager, Capital Delivery & Facilities acts as the Branch lead on capital projects and contracts for Paramedic & Seniors Services properties, as assigned.
• Obtains input and requirements from Paramedic & Seniors Services programs for the design of the assigned Paramedic and Seniors Services capital rehab/refresh projects.
• In collaboration with PSB and HSB, develops project cost estimates and participates in the preparation of the annual budget.
• In collaboration with the PSB and HSB, monitors compliance and application of established maintenance and construction standards for Paramedic and Seniors Services projects and jointly provide recommendations to management that will enhance the overall effectiveness of the day-to-day maintenance functions.
• Provides input to the development of the overall preventive maintenance programs for Paramedic & Seniors Services in consultation with management.
• Conducts periodic inspections and recommends changes to plans, as required ensuring planned activities meet divisional objectives.
• Participates in operational reviews to ensure compliance.
• Takes active role in project planning for renovated space needs for Paramedic & Seniors Services Branch.
• Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Architectural, or Engineering Sciences or Advanced Diploma in Interior Design Technology or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum three (3) years related experience in building rehabilitation/renovation maintenance for a variety of buildings, involving the development of designs, plans and specifications and contract administration.
• Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Checks (PVSC).
• Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license and reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.
• Knowledge of the theory, principles and practices related to building design, construction and maintenance related to structural, architectural and engineering disciplines.
• Knowledge of building construction and maintenance administration, including building elements and systems in a variety of buildings.
• Knowledge of applicable Federal and Provincial Building Codes, the Construction Lien Act, Municipal By-laws and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Knowledge and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer focus, communication, collaboration and personal ownership.
