Position Summary:

You are a highly seasoned operations management professional that is well versed in the development of operations strategy, lean manufacturing, and project management for high-volume production facilities.Your strong industrial engineering or manufacturing management background is complemented with an exceptional ability to lead and communicate with all layers of the organization.

You will work closely with the management and engineering teams optimize quality and productivity in a production plant, and roll out the same operating methods and standards across future facilities. You have experience leading large scale capital projects including either brownfield or greenfield manufacturing plant[s].

Job Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assist with development and implementation of enhanced material handling systems and industrial automation
  • Map out existing production processes and procedures
  • Develop and maintain system for forecasting, capacity planning, labour and materials requirement planning
  • Set goals, monitor plant operation KPIs and lead continuous improvement efforts
  • Establish a lean manufacturing strategy with a focus on plant organization (5S), visual management, layout and cell design, and flow improvements
  • Analyze, redesign and implement process, procedure, and system changes to improve efficiency, safety and quality
  • Support the design and selection of tooling and racking for the plant
  • Perform productivity, quality, capacity, and cost reduction studies
  • Define job descriptions based on new processes and support the recruiting of key personnel
  • Contingency and risk mitigation planning to identify risks of production interruptions; design and implement a plan to address the risks
  • Support the development of training programs across all key processes and functions; lead and develop operational team leaders
  • Troubleshoot production challenges seeking to understand and fix root causes
  • Roll out of business and production processes across new production facilities
  • Manage vendors utilizing experience in contract negotiation and progress / accountability management
  • Lead initiatives aimed at reducing rework and errors
  • Assist in the utilization of Bluestreak (ERP System) across business functions
  • Oversee growing industrial and process engineering activities

Requirements:

  • Exceptional leadership, vendor and contractor management, employee engagement, communications abilities
  • Operations or industrial engineering degree
  • 15 years of operations experience, 10 years in management
  • Expertise in lean manufacturing
