Our Team:


Our Newfoundland and Labrador Operations are an integrated mining, milling, and processing operation. Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey’s Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds, and copper cathodes.


The Opportunity


The incumbent will lead, in the management, definition and implementation of the project performance, reporting and risk processes, considering Vale’s standards and market best practices. It includes, for instance: KPIs / Annual Goals, Performance Meetings, Routine Reports, Risk Assessments and VPS (Vale Production System Model) deployment. The position considers multiple interfaces within the company (Global PMO, FP&A, Operational Excellence etc.) and inside the project (almost all areas), being a key part of the project decision making processes, providing recommendations in a data driven environment. Additionally, in this position you will:


  • Maintain databases and perform updates as required to ensure the accuracy of the project information.
  • Lead in the preparation, compilation, coordination and presentation of the project performance meetings.
  • Define the detailed key performance indicators (mainly Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Planning and Financial, and related) and coordinate the process to obtain and analyze the data.
  • Lead in the monitoring, tracking, compiling, analyzing and organizing of project information for status and performance reporting at a regular frequency including supporting ad hoc reporting requests.
  • Coordinate weekly/monthly project-level status reporting (mainly cost and financials, schedules, status, risks and issues).
  • Lead in project information gathering, modelling, analysis and reporting. Implement automated reporting using relevant data from diverse databases.
  • Track performance of Project goals and their adherence to the company's strategic plan.
  • Link the updates to the project schedule and Capex.
  • Monthly update and monitoring of the RMP (Risk Management Plan), including the mitigation plans, safeguards and progress indicators.
  • Support the project team integration, building positive relationships to obtain effective and proactive participation in the discussions and decisions of the business.
  • Lead in the management, definition and implementation of the project performance, reporting and risks processes, considering Vale’s standards and market best practices.
  • Use various applications and databases to extract, model, and present relevant data/information including, but not limited to, Microsoft 365, PRISM, Primavera P6, ACONEX, Power BI and others.
  • Support the annual risk assessment.
  • Act as a preferred partner in business and corporate areas, such as FP&A, Accounting, BM Operations, Global PMO and Operational Excellence, ensuring that the company's strategic plan and values are respected and that the correct behaviors is being stimulated.
  • Coordinate the risk management routine, including:
  • Lead on the project controls analysis and the implementation of Business intelligence data management and reporting systems


About You


Education:


  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Finance or Project Management


Experience:


  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in similar subject area.


Skills:


  • Work experience with SAP.
  • Experience in working with SharePoint environment (including Lists), database management and other IT applications for project information integration and reporting.
  • Demonstrated working experience with Budget Performance tracking and reporting
  • Demonstrated working experience with cost control, contract management, change management, forecasting, scheduling, earned value, and risk management of capital program and projects.
  • Experience with Power BI.
  • Extensive knowledge in performance management, demonstrated good communication, organizational skills and exceptional data visualization skills.
  • Must have capital projects / operations experience as part of multi-functional project/operations teams, problem-solving skills and experience working for a large multinational organization.
  • Experience with Primavera (P6) for schedule performance tracking and reporting
  • Experience with developing applications using Microsoft Power Apps or similar applications developer tools.
