Manager Finance - Capital

Reporting to the Director Finance, FP&A, the Manager Finance –Capital will serve as a business partner to corporate teams, responsible for handling end to end capital accounting matters, including budgeting, forecasting, accurate and timely accounting, and reporting, while ensuring that the company’s policies are being followed.
This position will be located at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario and will have flexibility for both remote and in-office work based on our hybrid work model.
Accountabilities
Capital Planning

• Manage the day-to-day activities that support operational and organizational capital planning activities and related reporting and analysis for strategic and operational decision making
• Partner with the business stakeholders and broader Finance teams to develop processes, effectively utilizing systems and tools to provide accurate and high-quality capital budgets and forecasts, to facilitate short and long term strategic and operational business decisions
• Lead a team of Financial Analysts to effectively manage the capital planning and reporting function

Capital Accounting/Reporting

• Implement process controls and manage the capital approval process across the Company
• Monitor the day-to-day processes to support the accurate, timely entry of the asset sub-ledger(s), including asset recognition, in service assets, transfers from construction in progress to in service assets, and derecognition
• Perform analysis and commentary on monthly variance analysis against budget and forecast, provide explanations and recommendations to stakeholders
• Design, prepare and communicate all capital related financial reports as require
• Conduct monthly capital review meeting with key stakeholders

Leadership

• Leverage financial, business, and accounting knowledge to drive process improvements and create efficiencies
• Manage internal and external auditors’ requests where required and as directed
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and other finance team members to support the accounting and reporting process

Qualifications And Experience

• 2 or 3 minimum years of leadership experience
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to build relationships across the organization
• Experience using a project-based ERP solution (Workday preferred)
• Minimum of 5+ years of work experience
• Professional Accounting Designation required (CPA)
