As a Director, Treasury and Capital Markets, you will work as a strategic partner within the Treasury team and interact directly with banking, lenders, investors and capital markets counterparties and key functional leaders within Wealthsimple to support Treasury initiatives and broader product launches. As a trusted advisor, you will provide advice and collaborate with leaders in product, operations, trading, finance, legal, regulatory and compliance to find creative solutions to complex problems. You are adaptable, flexible, and thrive in a collaborative, innovative environment where two days rarely look the same.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Build best-in-class capital markets capabilities to enable lending product offerings that delight Wealthsimple’s clients
• Lead banking, lender, and investor partnerships as well as capital market counterparty negotiations and credit reviews to support both Treasury initiatives and new product launches
• Propose hedging strategies and work with the Controller team to ensure proper accounting treatment
• Perform initial and ongoing counterparty credit risk assessments; seek ongoing enhancement opportunities based on industry best practice
• Maintain, enhance or develop relevant Treasury policies and procedures such as Investment Policy, FX Risk and Interest Rate Risk Management Policy
• Identify and manage Wealthsimple’s corporate foreign currency exposure
• Foster and deepen banking partner relationships and identify new partnership opportunities
• Oversee Wealthsimple’s Treasury investment portfolio to propose investment plans, execute strategies, monitor portfolio performance and perform appropriate rebalancing
• Responsible for the counterparty credit risk management and collaboration with key stakeholders to execute on the framework

We’re looking for someone who has:

• 10+ years of Treasury and Capital Markets experience with direct exposure to negotiation and engagement of external counterparties
• Knowledge of capital markets funding and financing transactions; track record of successfully executing new facilities from front to back (e.g. corporate debt facility, warehouse facility and ABS/securitization)
• A passion for technology, specifically fintech
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with superior attention to detail
• Deep understanding of Treasury investment portfolio management, foreign currency risk management and counterparty credit risk assessment
• Excellent interpersonal skills to manage external bank relationships and willingness to work in collaboration with various team members
• Prior experience in reviewing and negotiating ISDA, lending agreements, unsecured or secured credit facilities and ABS/securitization transactions
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex concepts effectively to a non-Treasury audience
