Job Description

KennedyPearce are recruiting for a Payroll Officer to join a firm based in Essex. This is a temp to perm role paying between £35-40K. This is a role to start ASAP and the successful candidate MUST have experience with IRIS Cascade system. This is a hybrid role, in the office 3 days a week.
The Payroll & Accounts Officer will be the primary contact responsible for overseeing all payroll activities and managing the end-to-end payroll process for the company. Additionally, they will have some tasks in the Accounts function (e.g. invoicing, allocating cash, completing VAT returns, etc). This role sits within the Finance team.
Payroll
Key responsibilities of the Payroll Officer
  • Ensure all payroll information and records are maintained in accordance with statutory requirements and support internal and external audits
  • Manage recording and accounting of employee benefits, including P11d submissions
  • Manage payroll systems and liaising with payroll systems suppliers to resolve issues and queries
  • Submitting RTI information and dealing with HMRC queries when they arise
  • Maintaining the payroll processing system and records by gathering, collating, and inputting data
  • Managing the payroll process for multiple monthly payrolls - overseeing all payroll activity, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Preparing and running Company payrolls, ensuring these are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • In conjunction with the HR team, dealing with employee payroll queries
Accounts
  • Ad hoc accounts work as required by the team (e.g. balance sheet reconciliations, VAT returns, etc)
  • Supporting the Accounts Payable team from time to time with invoice posting, coding employee expenses and assisting with month-end supplier statement reconciliations;
  • Processing payments to suppliers
Skills, Knowledge And Experience
  • Detailed knowledge of PAYE and regulations
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to be able to problem solve.
  • A team player and good communicator who can build good working relationships across teams (Finance, HR, and employees)
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines as well as being able to manage your own time effectively
  • Experience of manual calculations, and payment and deduction types
  • Experience of managing end to end payroll processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Microsoft Excel) and industry standard payroll software
  • Experience and understanding of payroll related compliance.
  • Experience of handling employee payroll queries
  • Accurate documenting skills and good attention to detail
  • Experience of managing efficient processes
  • Good planning and organizational skills
