Lead Dispatch, Atlantic Canada & Maine
Saint John, NB
Our client is looking for a Lead Dispatch, Atlantic Canada and Maine that will be based out of their Saint John, NB location.
As Lead Dispatch you are responsible for managing and controlling dispatch activities for ground transportation activities for sites in the Province of New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Maine.
In addition, you will have to collaborate with various stakeholders in the daily management of operations and to ensure compliance, road safety, health and safety, quality of service, and will work in close collaboration with the transport manager to identify the opportunities that will improve the efficiency of the entire operation.
This is a fast-paced dynamic environment that requires the ability to problem solve and will provide the chance for learning every day.
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of the geographic regions of Atlantic and Maine.
- Interpersonal skills;
- Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and dispatch software.
- Knowledge of transport methods, costs and benefits
- Enjoy customer service and be a good communicator.
- Able to juggle complex problems in order to find the best solutions.
- Sense of organization;
- Possess very good analytical skills.
- Professionalism in dealing with customers, other employees, suppliers and carriers.
- Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position with 2 years in a senior or lead role.
- Proactive learning;
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring prompt receipt and delivery of materials to and from customers.
- Dealing with complex situation and being able to solve it quickly.
- Using Global Positioning Systems to monitor the location and efficiency of the drivers.
- Review the ground transportation network and find new ways to maximize the volume and weight of products transported while minimizing operating costs.
- Receive requests from internal and external customers for the management of inbound and outbound moves of materials.
- Maintain effective communications with all internal stakeholders: buyers, suppliers, customers, brokers and other colleagues to organize the collection and delivery of scrap metal in an efficient and timely manner.
- Ensure the proper use of systems and procedures in place and continuous training of best practices.
- Act as a logistics specialist to the organization.
- Manage the efficiency of the movements assigned to the drivers and the optimal use of the drivers and equipment under your responsibility.
- Maintain driver performance data and report to management.
- Ensuring carrier compliance with company policies and procedures.
