Full-Time Limited Term Academic Curriculum Developer / Instructor

Position Description
The Faculty of Science is currently seeking a Full-time Limited Term Academic Curriculum Developer / Instructor for approximately 24 months.
This is a two (2) year Limited-term position with the possibility of extension. This role will support the Faculty of Science with curriculum and academic content creation for the new and existing programs. It will be involved in managing the online learning management system and potentially teaching.
Reporting to the Vice Dean, the Academic Curriculum Developer works with senior administration, faculty, staff, and subject matter experts to support the planning, design, development, delivery of new academic programs and courses, and program reviews for Faculty of Science. This position supports adult learning through their knowledge of learning theories, instructional strategies, educational technologies, online learning, research processes, and instructional design. The primary goal for this role is to ensure that the curriculum and course design provides an effective learning experience and meets the planned outcomes for each course as well as for the overall program.
Summary Of Key Responsibilities

• Prioritizing course/resource development within timelines and resources.
• Instructional duties as assigned
• Drawing upon current knowledge of instructional design, learning theories, online learning, research processes, and educational technologies, provide expertise in the planning, design, development, and delivery of online courses/resources.
• Ensuring that the content of the courses provides an effective learning experience and meets the planned outcomes.
• Curriculum assessment and review of existing programs and courses
• Testing and reporting on innovative technologies and online development processes.
• Engaging in ongoing professional development to remain current in online learning and related technologies.
• Analyzing educational needs, program scope and learner audience.
• Communicating instructional design requirements to stakeholders.
• Assessing instructional design requirements and support scoping of new programs and courses.
• Management of learning management system for select courses
• Collaborating with faculty, staff, instructors, and subject matter experts to design and develop courses and resources that meet the needs of the FoS and students.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Previous curriculum development experience would be an asset
• Ability to work on multiple projects at a time.
• Excellent research and organizational skills.
• Experience using a learning management system (LMS) such as D2L
• Experience designing and facilitating educational opportunities (workshops, online learning, toolkits, resources) for adult learners is an asset
• Knowledge of adult learning principles and learning styles and how they relate to educational design
• Prior experience in a post-secondary environment (required)
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
• Knowledge of the curriculum development process in general.
• A minimum of a Master’s degree is required; PhD preferred
• A combination of education and experience may be considered
