Job Description
Executive Flight Centre Aviation (EFC) has been setting standards in aviation fuel and airport services for over 75 years. Our Calgary Head Office location is seeking an experienced leader to support our diverse airport operations.


Description


The Director of Airports is responsible for the strategic direction and leadership for the overall operations of the Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, and Terrace Airports. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and is located at our Calgary Head Office location.


Responsibilities


  • Maintain a tidy and orderly work area exhibiting pride in work performance and contributing to a healthy and safe work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate, site specific and customer policies and procedures, including EFC’s Safety Management System, Ground Operations Manual, Fueling Operations Manual and Employee Handbook.
  • Oversee site financial results and assist site leaders with financial reviews and annual budgets; provide authorization for larger expenditures.
  • Responsible for planning and administration of training programs for EFC operations.
  • Ensure that EFC meets or exceeds the operational requirements and terms and conditions of EFC’s contracts.
  • Travel to sites will be expected on a frequent basis for scheduled and unscheduled reasons.
  • Ensure exceptional, courteous, and respectful customer service and embrace a “How can I help you?” attitude.
  • Provide site leaders with support for HR matters including recruitment, employee performance management and scheduling.
  • Oversee safety initiatives and performance at each site and drive a safety culture.
  • Ensure all regulatory, legislative and industry standards are adhered to including Transport Canada, Canada Labour Code and OH&S regulations, standards, and practices.
  • Work closely with COO on strategy development, contract management, customer pricing, response to Request for Proposals and other ad hoc projects.
  • Provide support for any ad-hoc projects or business development opportunities.
  • Comply with and participate in the Company’s Health & Safety and Quality programs and initiatives.
  • Ensure sites are properly resourced with equipment.
  • Perform any other duties as required.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders including major customers and applicable airport authorities.
  • Oversee and provide direction for key operational matters at each site.
  • Ensure site leaders are clear on EFC’s strategic plans and that clear objectives are in place.
  • Provide strategic direction and management support to the site leaders of the designated airports. This includes:


Qualifications And Experience


  • Ability to travel is required (often on short notice).
  • Professional, punctual, meticulous, and diligent.
  • Able to work collaboratively as a productive member of the EFC Team.
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal skills, to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team.
  • Strong quantitative and critical thinking skills.
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with clean drivers abstract.
  • An understanding of ramp and fueling procedures is a key asset.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the aviation industry with direct working knowledge of operations in an airport facility is required.
  • Able to identify key issues; creatively and strategically overcome internal challenges or obstacles.
  • Minimum five or more year’s progressive management experience with proven leadership abilities.
  • Completion of Post-Secondary diploma or degree in a technical field or Business Management preferred.
  • Good financial and business awareness.
