Seasonal; Part-Time (August 19 - September 4; 26-32 hours per week; weekends and evenings as required)


Wage & Pay Grade: $22/hour (PG 79); plus 5% in lieu of benefits and vacation

The Pacific National Exhibition is an iconic institution in BC, famous for bringing generations of people together to celebrate and build memories. This 113-year-old, non-profit organization has an annual operating budget of over $70 million dollars and generates revenue through four activity streams: the 15-day annual summer Fair and winter Fair which average more than 700,000 people annually, Playland amusement park which welcomes 400,000 guests annually including Fright Nights, and a busy year-round portfolio of events including concerts, trade shows and film, cultural and community events. In total we bring over 2 million people through the site each year. The fourth activity stream is park care and facility maintenance. The PNE is proud of the work it does at Hastings Park and has a vibrant team that is passionate about events, guest experience and delivering memorable experiences.

Please note this is a seasonal role for the 2023 Fair season—all applicants must have full availability during the Fair Period from (August 19 - September 4, 2023). Depending on individual performance during The 2023 Fair period, there will be opportunity to be hired on to work part-time year-round during events and concerts held at the PNE.

What will you do this year?


In your role as a First Aid Attendant, your primary accountabilities will be to:


  • Maintain first aid requirements at all PNE events
  • Operate vehicles and tools/equipment in compliance with all health and safety requirements as determined by WorkSafeBC, and all other applicable legislation and company policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Ensure PNE Uniform and Appearance policy is adhered to at all times
  • Provide first aid assistance to staff and visiting guests as required
  • Stay calm under stressful situations
  • Greet and assist guests and staff in a friendly and courteous manner
  • Participate as an active member of the PNE First Aid Team
  • Provide public safety to guests and night security to flat shows
  • Patrol designated Park area and buildings
  • Maintain cleanliness and order within the first aid workspace

  • Candidates must undergo a Criminal Record Check
  • Must have successful completion of grade 12.
  • Must have the ability to work a variety of shifts during The Fair period (August 19 – September 4) including evenings and weekends.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively deal with a variety of situations while maintaining a calm and flexible demeanour.
  • Must be capable of reading, writing and speaking in English for the purposes of written or oral instructions.
  • Must be highly motivated, dependable, and accountable.
  • Must have a valid Occupational First Aid Level III Certification; OR must be a licensed EMR/PCP/ACP- Candidates in Possession of current Emergency Medical Assistants (EMA) License, must apply for an OFA certificate at the appropriate level from an authorized training Agency.
