Transports residents to and from rehabilitative treatment area utilizing mechanical aids such as wheelchairs and stretchers.

Reports observations of resident's behaviour and progress to Therapist/Nurse; communicates concerns and/or changes to the resident's condition.

Completes resident care statistics and records program information as per established procedures.

Sets up and organizes equipment for related activities as directed; cleans and maintains equipment and reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff.

Maintains established inventory of equipment, devices and materials.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Deliver First Aid & CPR training consistent with professional standards.

Qualified with St. John Ambulance as a First Aid & CPR Instructor

Previous direct patient care experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.

Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.

Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.

Excellent interpersonal skills with people in a variety of settings.

Must be able to safely transfer large and/or heavy patients who may have limited or no weight bearing capabilities.

Current C.P.R. (Family and Friends) is preferred.

Clerical duties such as answering the telephone, writing information on menu cards and checking cards against lists.

Cleans items such as furniture, contact points, ledges, vents, mirrors and equipment.

Reports inoperable equipment or damaged, unsafe equipment or building surfaces in accordance with established procedures

Classroom preparation and instruction, student attendance, grading, and the issuing of first aid tickets

Supporting success of a diverse group of students

Ensuring security protocols are followed in a high security setting

Working collegially with Lakeshore instructors, staff and Lethbridge Correctional staff

Willingness to work in a high security environment with restricted movement and high-risk individuals.

The successful candidate will also need to complete a security orientation through the correctional centre.

Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
