Exhibition Attendant Jobs

Aartplace is seeking two candidates for the temporary part-time positions ofExhibition Attendant. This position offers 10 hours per week, Fridays and Saturdays, September 29th to November 4th 2023 . Qualified candidates should be highly personable, proactive, motivated, responsible, have strong communication skills and attention to detail. Candidates with fine art knowledge, passion, interest, or experience are preferred. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in British Columbia, Canada.

LOCATION:

The Commons, Royal Bay, Colwood, BC

TIME:

Fridays 2:00pm to 6:00pm and Saturdays from 12:00pm to 6:00pm, September 29th to November 4th 2023.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The candidate(s) will be responsible for:

• Communicating with the Director/Curator, as required.
• Assisting with events, programs, communications, documentation and research, as required;
• Content creation and management for the exhibition, as required;
• Providing information about the exhibition, the artists, and the artworks to visitors and community members;
• Engaging positively with the public, visitors and exhibiting artists;
• Setting up and maintaining audio/visual equipment and new media artworks/installations in consultation with Curator and artists, as required;
• Monitoring and maintaining the exhibition (stewarding the integrity of the artworks and the cleanliness and organization of the space);
• Becoming familiar with the exhibition (context, artists, thematic organization and content, artworks details, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent communication skills, oral and written. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively over the telephone, via online meetings, in person, and via email;
• Experience in working in an art gallery, community gallery, exhibition, or museum preferred;
• A proven record of developing and maintaining positive relationships with visitors/public;
• Unwavering reliability.
• Exceptional attention to detail;
• Ability to work within a team and independently with minimal supervision;
• Minimum of 2 years experience in retail, service, or hospitality industries;
• Experience with content creation/management for social media preferred;

This temporary art exhibition will feature three experienced Vancouver-Island artists whose works invite us to reflect on new ways of coming together, and thriving together – celebrating the transformation and growth of Royal Bay.
