Part-Time Program Developer, Dental Care

Administrative Temporary Part-time Contract Position (July 2023 – December 2023)

The School of Health & Life Sciences is currently seeking a qualified professional as a Part-time Program Developer to complete the design, development, and start-up of the Dental Care cluster of programs.
The incumbent will support the School of Health & Life Sciences by leading the curriculum design, development, and start-up of the Dental Care cluster of programs, based on subject matter expertise and clinical/professional networks in the field of dental care. The incumbent will oversee the design and implementation of labs, identification and sourcing of equipment, and activities related to accreditation.
This position is governed by applicable legislation of the Province of Ontario. Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required.
Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate curriculum development to ensure completion of deliverables per stated timelines
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to develop the process for students to complete required on/off campus clinical fieldwork placements
• Guide curriculum design, development, and delivery to optimize professional learning in accordance with industry trends
• Provide guidance to subject matter experts to ensure that program/course curriculum and delivery strategies adhere to leading practices in post-secondary education quality and align with professional regulatory and accreditation/certification bodies where required
• Design and implement labs, applied learning and clinical placements
• Guide all activities related to program accreditation, as required
• Review industry trends/needs and engage with subject matter experts to identify dental supplies and equipment required for teaching, learning, and servicing clients in the labs.
• Consult with Conestoga’s Facilities team/external consultants and engage with internal and external stakeholders to develop the proposal for the physical design of the dental labs

Qualifications

• Experience teaching in adult education contexts is an asset
• Direct experience with dental program accreditation process is required
• Registered Dental Care Professional in good standing
• Superior time and project management skills to meet required deadlines
• Excellent computer skills
• Direct experience with business and operations of a dental clinic, including procurement of equipment is required
• Direct experience with an academic dental care program strongly preferred
• Able to work independently with little direct supervision
• A Diploma or Degree in Dental Care (Dental Hygiene, Dentistry or Dental Surgery)
• Minimum five years of active clinical practice in a variety of dental care settings
• Strong commitment to academic excellence, student success, and ability to support Conestoga’s continuous quality improvement initiatives
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, intercultural, and collaborative skills
