What You'll Be Doing


Global Capital Markets provides integrated capital markets products, investment banking advisory services, corporate lending and top-ranked research to corporate, government and institutional clients around the world. The goal is to be the leading Capital Markets franchise in Canada and the lead relationship bank for key clients globally .


You will support the distribution of interest rate derivatives and mortgage products (“Products”) within the Financial Solutions Group (“FSG”) for CIBC Capital Markets. The role operates in a fast-paced trading floor environment as part of a dynamic, hardworking, production-focused sales team. The incumbent’s mandate is to provide exceptional service and support to FSG clients, with a focus on activities that will increase the distribution Products within the network. In addition, the incumbent actively monitors and oversees the daily business activities of the team, supports the talent management process and ensures the business observes CIBC policy and risk requirements.

How You’ll Succeed


  • Leadership. Provides senior strategic leadership and maximizes the operational efficiency of the CIBC Capital Markets mortgage business. Plays key senior role in managing and growing the Capital Markets mortgage business, including new product development. Proactively identifies, develops, motivates and retains top talent within the group. Keeps up with market trends.
  • Compliance. Ensures team compliance to market and credit risk limits. Works effectively within CIBC’s corporate governance practices and policies to ensure that all potential risks are appropriate addressed and that CIBC legal/reputational issues and shareholder objectives are covered.
  • Client Engagement. Initiating and developing clients, including value-add idea generation, client meetings/presentations and customized solutions providing trusted advice
  • Relationship building. Liaising with other CIBC infrastructure groups (GCF, Credit, Treasury, Tax, Legal, Client onboarding, etc) and resources, as appropriate, to deliver transactions
  • Leveraging technology. Ensures that the Capital Markets mortgage business has adequate technology platforms and capabilities


Who You Are


  • You give meaning to data. Excellent analytical and intellectual capabilities; ability to draft comprehensive presentations using advanced frameworks in PowerPoint, Excel and Word. Strategic thinking capability with ability to identify and exploit trends and opportunities
  • You have a minimum of 10+ years related experience. MBA, CFA or other relevant professional designation preferred with strong knowledge of interest rate derivatives, mortgage products, NHA Mortgage-Backed Securities and the Canada Mortgage Bond program. Strong overall knowledge of Capital Markets and the financial services industry/regulatory environment
